When I was a young girl my best friend and I started a summertime tradition. We would get on our bikes and meet halfway between our houses, going through miles of wooded trails. When we met up, we would eat a bag of cherries together. Sometimes I wonder if there is a cherry tree growing at that spot now...from all those cherry stones...

I love cherries and my favorite way of enjoying them is by going to a local farmers market and putting them in the fridge to get chilled. There is nothing better than a nice cold cherry on a summer day.

CHERRY SMOOOOOOOTHIE! So cool and refreshing and healthy! Oikos Honey Yogurt -- a splash of milk -- a few fresh strawberries and/or blueberries -- vanilla and almond extract -- and a bunch of seeded cherries. If you pop them in the freezer for a few minutes, you don't need to use ice. Yummy!

Cynthia C says …

I love cherries just plain. I like to eat them on my deck and throw the seeds out where the chipmunks love to get them.

Cindy Robinson says …

Cherry Pie is my absolute favorite and my daughter makes a to die for Cherry Pie which I request during the holidays. I love dried cherries with a splash of vanilla in my oatmeal. It is a really nice change. I buy frozen, pitted bing cherries and make chocolate-cherry smoothies using Silk Low Fat Chocolate Soy Milk. I also use the frozen bing cherries to make a fruit salad which I pack in my lunch bag for a snack at work. I use a variety of frozen fruits because of the convenience, and I have less waste with my ultra busy life. My favorite cherries are the Ranier Cherries... LOVE THEM! As for winning the basket... that would be so fabulous!

Tart red cherries fresh off Aunt Dagmar's tree eating as we pick. Then having Mom make her sweet yet tart red juicy cherry pie. No need for whipped cream and oh so finger lickin good. Found out how yummy dried cherries in my morning oatmeal is too. I have sipped a cherry wine aperitif and savored the taste. Cherry jam is simple to make and have year round. Love that we have choices of yellow, red and purple/red cherries. Frankly, I love them all. Can you twist the stem into a knot with your tongue?
