One of my favorite things to serve is a wheel of brie drizzled with good honey and marcona almonds, baked until it's warm and gooey. Paired with a fresh baguette, it's always a hit. I also love crostini topped with cream cheese and homemade chutney; spanish omelets cut into cubes; tarte flambe with goat cheese, lardon, and caramelized onions cut into slices, stuffed mushrooms filled with lamb sausage, pine nuts, and currants; spiced brownie bites, and crostini topped with melted dark chocolate and sea salt.

I'm all about the Pita and Hummus, Fresh veggies with ranch (or more hummus!), and making homemade guac. Trying to stray away from pretzels and chips but they are crowd pleasers to be sure!

Sarah @ The Smart Kitchen says …

I am the hummus queen! I am always in charge of the veggie tray, and veggies really need hummus to be dipped into, don't they? Sometimes I might get crazy and bring Food Should Taste Good Sweet Potato Chips...once I just popped a whole lot of popcorn and tossed it with seasoning (kettle corn with cinnamon is delicious).

Party time is the best with Whole Foods fresh salsa and guacamole. Throw in my best friends and a party on the roof deck with some adult beverages and it's my idea of the most pefect party!

I am a busy college student, so easy snacks on the go are a must! I love chomping on almonds, or chips. Plus I'm on a shoe string budget, so this would be an amazing boost if I won! :)

Megan says …

I love making different "pigs" (vegan sausages) in a blanket with assorted cheeses or pesto fillings, homemade stuffed pepper poppers, fresh red pepper or sundried tomato hummus dip and sliced veggies, and a DIY cocktail bar with wine, sparkling italian sodas, and liquors. It's fun to play with flavors at parties that are a twist on a classic, and encourage guests to use their creativity (and fingers).

Chips and dips are always a favorite. I also love warm, seasoned ricotta cheese with fresh baked bread for dipping!

Beth M. says …

For all causal parties, I always have to have chips and dip including homemade guac and hummus, fresh made filipino lumpia thanks to my mom, wings and mini-sandwiches. For more sophisticated entertainment, nuts, cheese, crackers, cured meats and olives always do the tricks..at least as finger foods ;)

EVOO, crusty French bread with shredded Parmesan, fresh fig stuffed with goat cheese and toasted walnuts and a nice dry red wine completes my idea party.

Heather says …

Fresh fruit! Especially in the Summer there is nothing better then a cold fresh fruit tray. A fresh baguette of french bread cut into small slices with olive oil and spices for dipping.

S'mores made in the microwave: marshmallow on 1 graham cracker square, about 5 seconds, top with semi-sweet chocolate square and the other graham cracker. I've also made them en masse by laying out a bunch of them and increasing the time, but watch out! At a barbecue or in the oven: Place crackers and marshmallows in roasting pan, cover with foil if the barbecue doesn't close. When slightly melted, take out and place chocolate & cracker and serve. These Go Fast!

I love making bbq wings for a party. Or for something more simple, some cheap delicious wine and a spread of cheeses (love the local goat cheese from WF!)

Kathleen Kam says …

Finger foods are easy way to nibble while socializing. I like pinwheels that I make by putting cream cheese on flour tortillas, then adding a layer of mild chilies, shredded boiled ham and an asparagus stalk. I roll these up, wrap them, and then chill over night. Just before the party, I slice the roll into half inch pieces, the perfect bite size! Yum!

Margaret says …

Freshly tossed ginger salad with peanuts, watermelon, cherries, cheese & crackers. And, it's party time !

I'm A Vegetarian So I Like The Variety Of Hummus With Nut Thins, Or Back To Nature Crackers!

I love bringing Chipotle Chicken Salad Cups! They are simple, easy and delicious! I just make them with Chipotle Chicken Salad with Organic Chicken, red onion, black beans, cilantro, canned chipotles, lime juice and salt and pepper to taste. Just put a small amount of the chicken salad in a Tostitos Scoops and voila! It's Party Time, Excellent!

The go to party snack is of course cheese and crackers, sometimes with quince paste. The ultimate party snack; however, is my (now nearly famous) bacon on a stick - broiled in the oven with brown sugar and served on a bamboo skewer with a ribbon tied on the end of the stick, displayed on a doily in my grandmother's sterling footed dish.

I love to serve tapas--just a whole bunch of little finger foods that people can snack on

In the summer, I like to make homemade fish tacos using a cayenne pepper rice flour breading and a mandarin orange chili sauce to top it off! Add some fresh cabbage and cilantro and...yum!

SJ says …

Simple: All our summer parties must have sweet watermelon for the kids and adults! Very important to hydrate the kids and nothing beats watermelon!

I used to love all the typical snacks (chips, pretzels, etc), but now I've learned so much about how terrible most of those foods are for you, I've changed! Lays actually has 1 kind of potato chip that's basically potatoes and salt. Also, I'm big on nuts now, so any kind of healthy trail mix would be great. And of course, fruit and veggies! Why eat all the junk if you're going to feel like junk later?

Jim says …

Gotta have homemade fresh guacomole

karie simon says …

I love trying out new 6 packs and whole foods has a great variety. There are always new packs to try out. And you can't have a great beer without some home made guacamole and blue corn tortilla chips.

Taylor Rayburn says …

I definately have to have a cheese tray at any party. Also little finger foods like crescent roll mini sandwiches, and dessert foods like chocolate covered strawberries and cheesecake bites.

Maria says …

Chips, salsa, and cheese!

melissa says …

some of my favorites are salsa & chips as well as popcorn with butteer on it and cheese and crackers, YUMMM

Cindy says …

Love to make ham and turkey pinwheel wraps with ham or turkey, veggie cream cheese and fresh spinach leaves rolled up in a flour tortilla and sliced into little rounds. They go faster than I can make them!

Garry says …

cheese and crackers are a bit of an obsession with me at parties.

Carol Schraeder says …

Brie cheese baked with almonds, apricot jam and a little brown sugar on the top.

Amy Unsworth says …

I love to serve spicy chorizo and manchego cheese with marcona almonds sauteed in oil and thyme. Add sauteed garlic shrimp with roasted red peppers and a good Rioja -- yum!!

Beth says …

The Whole Foods Tomatoes in Divina Oil with some baguette slices are always a hit. Also love a good cheese plate, sometimes with sausages and grapes, while a refreshing Caprese salad works well, too. Sometimes just some cheesy crackers are all you need.
