My valentine this year is my 1 year old daughter. She is developing into a very smart, funny and headstrong person and I am loving every day I get to spend with her and watch her personality develop. She is special to me for more reasons than I would ever be able to say. She is a gift.

The Valentines in my life are my mother and grandmother. On October 23, 1996 my mother’s life long partner in crime passed away to cancer a week after my brother’s 14th birthday. My father was only 47 years old when he passed away from stage 4 Lung cancer that had rapidly developed. He went through one treatment of Chemo and Radiation, when they realized it would harm him more then anything. Within 6 weeks of diagnoses from around Mid-August my father passed away. Every year I know how special Valentine’s Day is to everyone and the two most important influential people in my life happen to be my mother and grandmother. Since my father’s passing when I was 11 I’ve taken the time to make my mother and grandmother a four – six course meal and I’m about to be 25 years old. I don’t date, because Valentine’s Day they’re my dates. I set the table with flowers, candles, and then music and food. Life is hard with a widowed parent, a grandmother whose rapidly dying because these horrible illnesses are taking the once strong person I knew. I always start with appetizers, a salad, or soup of some kind depending on the weather, main course, side dishes and desserts. This year will be the 14th Valentine’s Day my mother hasn’t been able to spend with her husband. It is my goal on this holiday to try and fill a void she is filling, though I know I can’t do that. With your help I can give my mother a lavish Valentine’s Day dinner, one she and my grandmother whose 84 almost 85 years old. She was born on March 7, 1926. I don’t know how much longer she will be alive, but I do know this will one they remember because I was able to pay for it all myself. My grandmother has Dementia, Parkins Disease and Alzheimers and so life in my house is chaotic.. I’m trying my hardest to be able to put together a special holiday for the two people who I love the most in this world and with your help I can achieve my goals to be able to afford a nice meal for them. I understand that if my grandmother won't remember it, it's something my mother and I would remember for a life time. This would be one present I'd be able to give without having to ask for money this year. Please help me give the two most influential people in my life a special day of rest, relaxation, food, and love!

The thoughts and emotions that valentine's day evokes on the typical person are sentiments that should permeate our minds on a daily basis. I feel the same gratitude, love and blessing for my loved ones that I do on any day included valentine's day.

My boyfriend is my Valentine, and deserves the best during this holiday. It's only February, but this has been a year of trouble for my family. He has been there for me, every hour of every day, supporting me and helping everyone in my family. I know he loves me unconditionally because he puts me first, and for that, I am forever grateful.

My Valentine's this year are my husband and sweet new baby girl! My husband waits on us hand and foot since baby girl is exclusively breast fed. It takes a lot of time and energy for me so we couldn't do it without his help! Also, this time last year we found out we were pregnant with her. We'll never forget it! Ever since then we've been wanting to eat healthier and I think I've found the place to do it!

Anna Reeves says …

Dear Whole Foods Market team: Thank you for the opportunity to share my Valentine with you. I am talking about my daughter, a very special girl who make my life worthy and keeps me afloat. She makes me very proud that even though I was not a perfect mother to her, she was able to reach for the stars and get there, and she never waivered on her journey, having always been passionate and caring human being. By the way she loives very close to your store, and shops there for just about everything. Every time I visit her in CA she takes me there and we have a lot of fun picking food and flowers: it's always fresh, and beautiful. I hope, she has a wonderful Valentive Day, and so will you, guys!

My husband is such a special Valentine because there is nothing like having to remind him of Valentine's day with an evil glare. But really he is a wonderful man he has supported me through my growing business, helps me with the kids, cooks, cleans, works, so I guess I should cut him some slack on not remembering Valentine's Day. I love you sweety!

Mary Ann C says …

My mother, Ann, is my Valentine. Looking back over the years and even now, she consistently gives her unconditional love. I have a fabulous husband but I will never put anyone before my mother. Through thick and thin, she has always been there for me. You can always replace a boyfriend and/or spouse but you can NEVER replace a mother. We have a special bond that no one can break. I can always count on her honest criticism and advise. Not only is she loving to her children and grandchildren but to those who know her as well. She visits her friends in nursing homes, volunteers in her community several days a week and delivers leftover meals to her neighbors. She's one of a kind and I love her!

Cate says …

Max is my special valentine. He has stuck with me through thick and thin. He knows all my secrets. He likes to spoon. And his eyes always light up when I enter the room. When I kiss him on top of his head, he purrs.

Cindy Holland says …

After 36 years my husband still makes me laugh and has that special sparkle in his eye. He shares his joy of life and he encourages me in everything I do. I will be toasting him with the wine glasses from our first Valentine's Day together and expect to do the same for many years to come.

The parents will follow. Enjoy the days.

My Mom is my Valentine because she is there to help show me a recipe to prepare, available to help babysit my daughter's when I need a hand, she likes a clean house and no dishes in the sink etc. Mom's energy level is great and not only that, she has volunteered in many ways with community involvement. I would love to surprise her back with her kind actions.

My valentine is my girlfriend of 4 years. Currently we are on opposite sides of the world with her in an internship in Asia and me in medical school here in the U.S. Yet, the distance and time difference has only brought us closer together. We are both pursuing our dreams and with each others continuing support we'll make them happen.

This year, I would like to celebrate my father as my Valentine. This has been a trying year for my father, fraught with a new disability and attempting to make a new normal of his life. Through all of the heartache, it's my selfishness that allows me to bask in the fact that he's around more often to spend quality time with. No matter what man comes, leaves, or stays in my life, he has been and always will be the most reliable force in my life. I love my pappy.

Beth Mickens says …

My husband and I have come to enjoy spending Valentine's day with our 4-year old daughter. It's a great time for us to surprise her with a small gift and her favorite sweet treats; it just gives us one more way to show her how much we love her. Of course, my other Valentine will always be my husband. He's always been wonderful to me and there for me no matter what. He's an awesome and loving dad and I honestly couldn't be more blessed. Now I can't wait for Valentine's this year...maybe we'll take a trip to Wholefoods to pick up some delicious Sorbet or Gelato. It has become a tradition (or maybe a bad habit LOL)to pick some up right before we go shopping!

My husband and I will be married 11 years on February 14th this year. We were high school sweethearts and I broke his heart twice back then. We went our separate ways for 10 years then out of the blue one day, he called me up. We've been together ever since! I love him so much. The funny thing is, my mom told me way back in high school that I was going to marry him and I thought she was nuts!

Keya Millionie says …

This year is my boyfriend and I's first valentines together. He is special because it's been a long time since I've dated someone so nice (I usually end up with creeps). Sadly we have to be long distance at the moment because of his job so we won't be "together" on that day but I scraped together some money to send him some gifts and a card. Even though we can't be face to face, he still write me every morning to say he loves me, and we chat throughout the day. Its nice to feel so close to someone when we are so far apart.

My Valentine is my mom. She's always been there to help and guide me. <3
