I love Feliz Navidad also. We used to sing it in my high school Spanish class each year for our Christmas party. Fun times.

My vote is for the island reggae version of Happy Christmas; makes me feel like I'm in the warm tropics even when it's 20 degrees outside!

My favorite sound at Christmas has to be bells ringing! My family had a leather strap of heavy bells that always hung on our front door, all year long. One Christmas, my father rigged a fishing line from upstairs to the bells and rang them from his room while playing a tape of "Santa" saying "ho, ho, ho!". One of my favorite memories and I think of him every holiday when I hear bells!

Some years back around Christmas, my mother and I were driving in her car. On comes a song on the radio...'I want a hypopotamus for Christmas'. We laughed and laughed, it was so darling. In the days to come, my mother would start singing that song. It brought an immidiate chuckle and smile to us as we prepared Christmas pies and dishes for our family. It's a beautiful memory. Thank you Whole Foods, for this kind giveaway. Wishing a peaceful and scrumptious holiday to all.

Our favorite non-traditional sounds of Christmas is the Spanish Carol (Villancico) "Con Mi Burrito Sabanero" (With my Grasslands Donkey). It's a about a little boy riding his little burro (dunkey) to Bethlehem, singing and playing his cantrico all the way. Translation of the original Spanish song is below: I am riding to Bethlehem on my grasslands donkey. If you see me, I’m going to Bethlehem. I sing with my cantrico as my donkey trots. Hurry up, my little donkey, we’re almost there. Hurry up, my little donkey, we’re going to see Jesus. Spanish Lyrics: Con mi burrito sabanero voy camino de Belén con mi burrito sabanero voy camino de Belén Si me ven, si me ven voy camino de Belén si me ven, si me ven voy camino de Belén. Con mi cuatrico voy cantando mi burrito va trotando con mi cuatrico voy cantando mi burrito va trotando Tuqui tuqui tuqui tuqui Tuqui tuqui tuquitá apurate mi burrito que ya vamos a llegar Tuqui tuqui tuqui tuqui tuqui tuqui tuquitú apurate mi burrito vamos a ver a Jesús Many Spanish artists have sign this wonderful "villancico" either on traditional, salsa, merengue, and many other genders. Thanks, Alma

Music and voices that express joy, reverence and gratitude? It would be a treat to listen to music of the heart from around the world. As long as there is music, there is hope. I imagine the Putumayo Christmas collection to be the voice of hope from around the world. I haven't found my favorite non-traditional sound of Christmas, but perhaps it will be in this collection.
