Thanks to Jimmy Dunne, President of Inspire — a music and branding company partnering on music initiatives with Whole Foods Market — for providing this blog post. As you’re navigating through the glitter, glam, and superheroes this back-to-school season, you’re bound to get a little nostalgic of your own childhood.  We want to help you embrace the memories with three fantastic new albums that harken back to a different age… Read on for an opportunity to win a gift bag of all three CDs! Sting - Symphonicities Sting has finally produced an orchestrated album, performing the greatest hits from both The Police and the solo eras.  His long-awaited collaboration with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra is breathtakingly cinematic— yet buoyant —with the same classic energy that has resounded from him since the Police first stole the stage in 1978. Sheryl Crow - 100 Miles From Memphis Sheryl Crow has tapped into her soulful roots and produced an album of all new music that sounds like it’s straight from the 70’s.  It’s stacked with surprises— including Justin Timberlake’s vocal colors on “Sign Your Name” and Keith Richards’ signature riffing on “Eye to Eye.” 100 Miles is a truly entertaining, summer-glinted treat. Marc Cohn - Listening Booth: 1970 A timeless voice covers the most lasting songs from a “pivotal year in music:” 1970.  Simon and Garfunkel’s “Only Living Boy in New York”; Paul McCartney’s “Maybe I’m Amazed”; John Lennon’s “Look At Me”; all collide in an album that’s ripe with treasured moments. Treat yourself with your own little end-of-summer goodie— all three of these CDs are available in our stores now. So, who were you listening to in high school? The Police, Sting (solo), Sheryl Crow, Marc Cohn or someone else entirely? Tell us in the comments below, and we’ll select five random winners to receive a gift bag of all three of these new CDs. Enter your comment by August 18th! High School for me was all about the music back in the early 80's. AC/DC, Pink Floyd, The Knack, Aerosmith, Billy Squier, the list is endless and timeless. Still listening today on the "Classic Rock" station.

I listened to everything from Lori Anderson to Kate Bush to Cheap Trick to ACDC to Simply Red to Aretha Franklin to Spike Jones to show tunes to Etta James and just about everything in between. I love variety! I could listen to so much variety because I listened to tunes ALL the time!

I adore most music and cannot imagine life w/o it! I'm a huge fan of classical, because even though I get tired of certain types of music, I can go back to classical and always love it. It also stimulates my brain. However....I was NOT a big fan of it in high school. I enjoyed all of Elton John, Electric Light Orchestra and Journey, and Chicago probably the most.

I feel fortunate to have been exposed to legends in the making, Pearl Jam's TEN, Nirvana 'Smells Like Teen Spirit', and Red Hot Chili Peppers. U2 was pushing forward in it's own avant garde movement of sound. All endure because of the unique talent that dared to cross the line of the mainstream. Awesome music...think I'll go dig some of those gems out and take a listen today. Thanks for the flashback into an otherwise moody teenage life!
