Peak Pick: The Great Pumpkin
Saturday, October 25th
6:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Cooking Classroom, $30 per person

This class will be taught by Chef Ani. Chances are, you’re already planning to cut into one pumpkin this season, and it’ll be sitting on your porch sporting a ghoulish glow. Large carving pumpkins may be best out of doors, but small sugar pumpkins belong in your kitchen- and in your belly. Similar to butternut squash, pumpkin is easy to cook, packed full of vitamins and content to be both a sweet and savory ingredient. We’ll discuss the history of the pumpkin and its importance to colonial America, how to pick a fine pumpkin and how to crack it open safely. Additional areas of focus include how to make a delicious savory bread pudding, how to make a pumpkin seed pesto and how to make a crispy croquette. This class has hands on opportunities as desired and vegetarian friendly, with vegan and gluten free options upon request. Come hungry! Pre-registration is required. On the menu:

  • Curried Pumpkin Dip with Cilantro

  • Pumpkin Bisque with Gorgonzola Croquette and Pumpkin Seed Pesto

  • Roasted Chicken Thigh and Pumpkin with Soy and Star Anise

  • Pumpkin and Shiitake Mushroom Bread Pudding

  • Pumpkin Mousse Parfaits with Gingersnaps and Pumpkin Seed Brittle
