This class will be taught by Chef Ani. What do you do when the dropping temperatures get you down? Think like a Bavarian! Oktoberfest, one of the most popular food festivals in all the world is about celebrating heritage, food and fun with the flavors of southern Germany.This hearty, comforting cuisine is where a good portion of Midwestern cuisine gets its roots. Chef Ani has fiddled with the classics a bit to provide recipes that have the much beloved stick-to-your-ribs savor of traditional German cuisine while making it a little bit lighter for the modern palate. Areas of focus in this class will include how to make homemade German-style mustard, shaping pretzels, working with traditional German sausages and how to perfectly bread and fry schnitzel. This class has hands on opportunities as desired. Pre-registration is required. On the menu:

  • Apfelschorle (Sparkling Cider)

  • Homemade Pretzels

  • A Variety of German Sausages with Homemade Mustard

  • Spaetzle (Boiled German Dumplings)

  • Schnitzel with Braised Red Cabbage

  • Deconstructed Black Forest Cake

Amazing Appetizers: Fall Favorites

This class will be taught by Chef Ani. The weather is cooling down, but entertaining season is heating up! Celebrate the changing of the seasons with bevy of delicious Fall appetizer recipes suitable for quiet night at home or a festive gathering. Learn how to build a great cold weather cheese plate, turn healthful root vegetables, fall fruits and more into hearty and relatively healthy bites that’ll be a hit on the coffee table or the banquet table. Skills learned in this class include how to set up mis en place (kitchen organization) to make appetizer prep quick and easy, and several ways to adapt your plan to take advantage of what you have on hand and what is in season, as well as how to make a delicious Fall punch and a yummy no fuss dessert. This class has vegetarian options upon request and hands on opportunities as desired. Pre-registration is required. On the menu:

  • Sparkling Cider Punch with Ginger

  • Pear Crostini with Gorgonzola and Thyme

  • Goat Cheese Fondue with Seasonal Vegetables

  • Apple Salsa with Sweet Potato Chips
