This free class will be led by Sarah Treat, a certified clinical nutritionist. She has an undergraduate degree in health and fitness and a masters degree in nutritional science from the University of Bridgeport, CT. She has worked as a personal trainer, is a published health and nutrition writer and also owned and ran a successful nutrition practice. She is passionate about spreading the message of how nutrition and proper supplementation can dramatically improve health.
Whole Foods Market at the Alamo Quarry will kick off a new series of cooking classes featuring local chefs in November. The first will be led by Chef Steve McHugh, former executive chef of Lüke San Antonio. McHugh is preparing to open his first solo venture this spring at the Pearl Brewery. Class participants will get a sneak peek of the new restaurant as McHugh demonstrates how to prepare some of his favorite Southern dishes. Class cost is $25 per person. Seating is limited. In partnership with the San Antonio Natural Parenting (SANP) group, Breastfeeding Housecalls will offer a free breastfeeding class to the San Antonio community. Dads are welcome.
Class instructor Laura Gruber is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant and the owner of Breastfeeding Housecalls, LLC. Laura's breastfeeding relationship with her two children is what fueled her passion for helping to make contemporary and evidence-based breastfeeding education more accessible for San Antonio. She has worked with two major local birthing hospitals as an IBCLC and is sought out by the local home-birth community for assistance with all breastfeeding matters.
