National Sourdough Bread Day

Records of the consumption and eating of sourdough bread date back as far as the Sumerians in 2800bce. Sourdough is similar to bread dough, except that the natural yeasts are left to ferment in the bread mix. Why not celebrate Sourdough Bread Day by mixing up your own batch of sourdough and baking a loaf?

National Peanut Butter & Jelly Day

It's National Peanut Butter and Jelly Day! Did you know that the average American consumes 1,500 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches by the age of 18? The combination of sweet jelly and salty peanut butter has been a staple in school lunchboxes for over fifty years.

According to one story, American soldiers invented the peanut butter and jelly sandwich during World War II. They decided to combine their bread, jelly, and peanut butter rations into a fabulous new treat. When the soldiers returned home after the war, peanut butter and jelly sales soared.

To celebrate National Peanut Butter and Jelly Day, make this iconic American sandwich for lunch!

We can thank Pillsbury for making crescent rolls an everyday delight. They first introduced refrigerated doughs in the 1950s, and home cooks have creatively baked with them ever since.

Earthling Day!

April is Earth Month, and we want to celebrate its inhabitants. Join us for a fun-filled day that features some of our wonderful local vendors. Learn about sustainable practices, grab some awesome grub and meet some local animal Earthlings!

This month we become a hub for Earthlings. A place to meet up and share IDEAS. Earth month is an opportunity for fellow Earthlings to come forward, taking pride in their ACTIONS and their ideas!

What is an EARTHLING? At WFM, our world of Team Members, suppliers, cus...tomers and partners) we're all Earthlings. We know where our food comes from; sometimes we even grow our own. We recycle (more than just paper), we care about how animals are treated, we're committed to SUSTAINABLE production, and we care about our COMMUNITY and our planet.

Join us on Sat the 20th from 11-3pm as we host a Kids Club event to create egg carton herb gardens, host a store wide scavenger hunt for earthling-friendly foods. Visit demo stations around the store to try products and learn about our programs and quality standards (seafood sustainability randkings, organics, premium body care, etc.)

Mark your calendars and JOIN us!
