Cooking with Chef Hollie for the Whole Kids Foundation
Wednesday, September 24th
3:00 PM - 4:30 PM
Whole Foods Market San Mateo, $7 per person donation to benefit The Whole Kids Foundation

We are thrilled to be partnering with Chef Hollie, the founder of Joyfoodly, on this amazing instrucional kids cooking demo...especially given they'll benefit the Whole Kids Foundation.

We'll help your family find incredible value with our Private Label 365 brand, load up your shopping carts with in season produce and real food, and we'll get them excited to cook simple meals at home with their kids. What could be better?

In the beginning of school, it's tough to cook every night. Here is a great and easy idea for a veggie focused meal with a theme of making one meal stretch.

This afternoon, we are preparing Chef Holllie's "Sweet Pear n Crazy Cool Celeriac Salad"--it has dried cranberries and toasted walnuts with a buttermilk tarragon dressing the kids can shake in a jar. It will be a hit!

Details: Adults with Kids ages 7-11 are welcome, Max is 20 people (5 per table), $7 donation per person will be collected checkin. Please provide the name and age of your child and advise us of any nut allergies. Deadline to sign up is at noon on the day of the event. And Waitlist will be set up as well.

Please meet us at the Customer Service Booth at 2:50pm sharp as we are starting at 3pm sharp!

Let's welcome Chef Hollie to San Mateo and let's get cooking to fundraise for The Whole Kids Foundation!

September 26 National Pancake Day
Friday, September 26th

Whole Foods Market San Mateo,
September 26 National Pancake Day

Just in time for the end of National Breakfast Month, September 26 is National Pancake Day.

Stacked and soaking up butter and syrup, spread out and covered with a fruit compote, pancakes are the ultimate comfort food. It’s no surprise this breakfast staple has a long history, dating back to the ancient Greeks. But, depending on where you are, pancakes will look vastly different.

In Germany, they’re made out of potatoes; in France and Belgium, they’ll be thin and light; in South Africa, they’re filled with lemon juice and sugar; and in Mexico, you might find a hotcake (a pancake made with cornmeal instead of wheat flour).

Depending on your batter, you can either end up with a crêpe, a pancake, a crumpet or a flapjack. All use the same technique: A batter of flour, eggs, milk and, in some cases, a leavening agent is beaten, left to rest and then poured in batches onto a hot griddle or pan. Typically, when bubbles form on the uncooked side of the pancake, it’s ready to flip.
