Hickory Hot Dog Mac and Cheese

This one-dish supper might be kid-friendly, but adults will find the whole wheat pasta, smoky Gouda cheese, veggie dogs and sweet peas irresistible, too.

  • 1 tablespoon butter, cut into small cubes, plus more for the pan
  • 1/2 pound whole wheat macaroni
  • 6 365 Everyday Value Veggie Dogs, chopped
  • 1 cup 2% milk
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 1/2 cup whole wheat bread crumbs, divided
  • 8 slices 365 Everyday Value Organic Hickory Smoked Gouda, halved

Preheat the oven to 350°F. Butter an 8- or 9-inch pan. Bring a large pot of water to a boil, add macaroni and cook until al dente, 8 to 9 minutes. Drain and transfer hot pasta to a large, heatproof bowl. Add veggie dogs, milk, peas and 1/4 cup bread crumbs and toss well.
Spoon into the pan, layering with cheese. Scatter remaining bread crumbs over the top, dot with butter and bake until golden brown and hot throughout, 35 to 40 minutes.
