Pecan and Chocolate Chip Sugar Cookies

Pecan and Chocolate Chip Sugar Cookies

Makes about 3 dozen
This recipe pairs a traditional sugar cookie with a chocolate chip cookie. Add rich chopped pecans, and we think that's a pretty delicious combination.
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 2 egg
  • 1 1/2 cup whole wheat pastry flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 1 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar

Preheat the oven to 350°F.

In a large bowl with an electric mixer, beat together butter and sugars until light and fluffy. Beat in vanilla and eggs until well blended. In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking powder and salt. With mixer at low speed, beat flour mixture into butter mixture to blend well. Stir in chocolate chips and pecans.

Drop dough in tablespoon-sized mounds on aparchment-paper-lined baking sheets, spacing them 1 inch apart. Bake until lightly browned, 10 to 12 minutes. Let stand on the baking sheets for 2 minutes, and then transfer to a wire rack to cool.
