Vietnamese Dipping Sauce

Makes about 2/3 cup

Vietnamese dipping sauces like this one are perfect to serve alongside spring or summer rolls. Whisk a bit of the sauce with olive oil for a light dressing to toss with shredded carrots or cabbage, too. Ingredients with an asterisk (*) are available in the Whole Foods Market Family of Brands.

Ingredients: 
  • 1 Thai chile or jalapeño, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon sugar*
  • 3 tablespoons fish sauce
  • 2 tablespoons shredded carrots
  • 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped

Method: 

In a small bowl, combine chile and lime juice. Add sugar, fish sauce, carrot and garlic and stir until sugar dissolves. Cover and refrigerate for 1 hour, or up to 5 days before serving. Serve at room temperature as a dipping sauce.
