Serves 6

This delightfully simple sauce dresses up a slice of angel food cake or a scoop of ice cream.

Ingredients

1/2 cup sugar
3/4 cup water
1 pint fresh blueberries (or other berries, or mix of berries)

Method

In a small saucepan, combine sugar and water. Bring to a boil and stir to dissolve sugar.

Add half the blueberries and continue to boil for 5 minutes. Use a potato masher to break up the blueberries. Work carefully and wear an apron. Reduce heat to a simmer and cook for another 5 minutes. Add remaining blueberries, take from the heat and set aside to cool. Sauce can be covered and chilled for up to 3 days.
