At Whole Foods Market we strive to serve and support our local communities. In fact, it’s one of our core values – everyday missions that drive our business practices. Each of our stores regularly partners with non-profit groups to meet the needs of the local community.
The following are the community giving programs we offer:
For organizations seeking small contributions or event support, Whole Foods Market can provide in-kind donations such as goods, gift cards, and services.
When customers bring in their reusable bags for groceries, they have the option of receiving a five-cent credit (per bag) or donating five cents to a selected charity. Local organizations are selected every quarter (four times per year) as recipients.
A selected organization may be asked to attend special events in partnership with Whole Foods Market to help promote the Nickels for Non-Profits partnership.
Once per quarter, Whole Foods Market contributes 5% of one day’s store sales to a non-profit organization. We work together with the participating organization to promote the partnership and generate sales on the day of the event. The participating organization must have the capability to promote the event within their organization and the community.
On a 5% Day, the selected organization is invited to table in-store throughout the day to educate and interact with customers.
If you are interested in applying for one of our Community Giving Programs, please fill out our Donation Request Form (below). We only accept online donation applications.
- We are not able to donate to groups or individuals seeking pledges.
- All non-profit groups requesting a donation must have tax-exempt status. A copy of your tax-exempt letter from the IRS must be attached with the application.
- Organizations may only apply for one donation per calendar year. Do not contact multiple stores for the same donation. Additionally, past support of an organization or event does not guarantee future support.
- Applications must be submitted 8 weeks prior to the event or donation pick up date.
Due to the high volume of donation inquiries we receive, it is not possible for Whole Foods Market to fulfill every request. We will contact you only if we can make a contribution to your organization.
