· Gimme 5 Plastic Recycling: Recycle your #5 plastics here! Common #5 plastics include packaging for yogurt, sour cream, butter, hummus and medicine bottles. #5 plastics can be identified by a recycling symbol with the number 5 on the bottom of the container. Drop your clean #5 plastic container in our Preserve® Gimme 5 bin, located in the café, and they will be shipped to Preserve® to make 100% recycled household products.
· Cork Reharvest® Cork Recycling: Drop your wine corks in the designated bin located in our Wine Department. Although cork is a sustainable material, recycling it actually helps to preserve the Mediterranean cork forests!
· Secure the Call Cell Phone Recycling: Have you recently upgraded your phone? Recycle your old cell phones by dropping them in ourSecure the Call bin located in the café. Secure the Call is a 501(c)(3) organization that provides free 911 emergency-only cell phones to senior citizens and families affected by domestic violence to use in the case of an emergency. Please note, all phones must be recycled with their chargers in order to work.
· Gift Card Recycling: Recycle all your plastic cards (credit, gift, membership, etc.) in our bin at the Customer Service counter! Whole Foods Market gift cards can be reloaded for store credit and returns, and all others get sent out to be recycled.
Did you know that Whole Foods Market gives 10 cents per bag to customers who re-use their own shopping bags for their purchased groceries? This program reduces our impact on the environment, and supports local non-profit groups. Customers have the choice to accept their cash refund, or donate the cash back to the store’s chosen non-profit organization, or to the Whole Planet Foundation. One local non-profit is chosen each quarter to receive the Donate Your Dime option. This quarter, all funds raised will be donated to Kibblez of Love.
