The Shoeman Water Project Shoe Drive
All during the month of May, we will be collecting shoes for The Shoeman Water Project. This organization collects donated shoes, exports them to places like Kenya, Haiti and South America for resale, and then uses the funds from exporting for clean water programs in more than 75 countries around the world. Donate your used shoes today!
Angels’ Arms Collection Drive
Help support Angels’ Arms foster families during National Foster Care Month by donating toiletries, paper and household products. In the month of May, Whole Foods Market will be collecting items such as detergent, paper plates, paper towels, toothpaste, soap and more to benefit the nine Angels’ Arms foster families living in our community. Story Hour with PAWS Support Dogs

PAWS Support Dogs has a great program called Paws Reading Program. Paws will be bringing 3 – 4 dogs in for this special story hour! Afterwards, the children will be able to pet the dogs and even read to them if they choose to!

Pet Food Pantry Drive for Five Acres Animal Shelter
With Diane Van Booven, Kids Club Coordinator
During the months of July and August, we will be collecting dry and canned dog and puppy food for AniMeals, a pet food pantry at Five Acres Animal Shelter. This program is run completely by Five Acres volunteers with the goal of keeping people and their pets together, sometimes when they need each other the most. AniMeals feeds an average of 57 dogs and cats each month. To learn more about Five Acres or the AniMeals program, visit www.fiveacresanimalshelter.org.
Town and Country Crossing Movie Night at the Lake

Father’s Day Writing Contest
Kids, last month we wanted you to tell us about your awesome moms. Well, this month we want you to write about your special dad. Write a letter or send an e-mail. The winning DAD will win a basket filled with gifts just for him! The letters are due by Friday, June 14. Drop off your letters at our Customer Service desk or submit them to diane.vanbooven@wholefoods.com. Don’t forget to include your phone number.

During this special story hour, Carole Pitzer from C.A.R.E. (Coalition for Animal Rescue and Education and our current One Dime at a Time recipient) will have the kids watch a movie about her special animals that she takes care of. Afterwards, she will give the kids a coloring book about taking care of pets. Lastly, she is going to bring along one of her special friends for all the kids to pet!

Five Acres Animal Shelter is in St. Charles County and has been helping dogs and cats find new homes since 1973. Come to this story hour to hear some stories about dogs and cats. One story even teaches small children how to pet animals nicely. At the end, all the kids will be able to pet either a cat or dog.

Diane loves birthday parties so…we are going to have a party for Whole Foods Market Town and Country’s 5th birthday! She is going to serve cheese pizza, fresh vegetables and fruit kabobs. To end the party, everyone is going to decorate their own cupcake and sing Happy Birthday to Whole Foods Market. When kids walk in the door, they will get a party hat to wear and party favor as well! Come celebrate with us!
