Healthier Cooking for Food Lovers: Light Spring and Summer Desserts

This class will be taught by Chef Ani. If you’ve got a sweet tooth, but want to eat healthy, this is the class for you! It may seem like healthful eating and dessert are incompatible, but it’s all about balance, using the best, most flavorful, most nutrient dense ingredients and a few clever techniques to concentrate flavors and enhance sweetness and richness-without butter, oil or heavily processed sugars. In this class, we’ll dig into the art and science of baking. We’ll discuss ways to incorporate healthy fats such as nuts, natural sweeteners and seasonal fruit into simple summer desserts that are delicious and can satisfy you without a 1,000 calorie price tag. Dinner will not be served, but you will get to taste plenty of treats, so please plan accordingly. Class will have gluten-free options upon request, hands on opportunities and is suitable for vegan customers. On the menu:

  • Grilled Pineapple with Chili and Lime
  • Roasted Strawberries with Balsamic Vinegar
  • Banana Ice Cream with Hazelnuts
  • Chocolate Mint Chia Pudding
  • Individual Peach Crisps
