Whole Foods Market - Mountain Brook opened as the first Whole Foods Market in the great state of Alabama. On February 27, 2007 they opened their doors to welcome the surrounding community and guests from around the state. Years later, they remain active working within their community, and have recently received a decor update. Highlights include cosmetic upgrades throughout the store, and the addition of a sandwich station, fresh pasta case, expanded sushi offerings with ramen options, and a tap wall in the Specialty Department with 12 rotating beers on tap!
What continues to make this store special is their connection and commitment to the community. Through 5% Community Giving Days, sponsorships, donations, and in-store events they've supported hundreds of organizations in and around the state including Jones Valley Teaching Farm, Children's of Alabama, The Exceptional Foundation, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), The Bell Center for Early Intervention, Alabama Sustainable Agriculture Network (ASAN), West End Community Gardens, Southern Environmental Center, Coosa Riverkeeper, Hand In Paw, Jefferson County Library Cooperative (JCLC), Magic City Harvest, Alabama Tornado Relief for Unmet Needs and United Way of Central Alabama.
