How Kids Can Grow Food + a Giveaway

Seeds are amazing. We plant them in the garden, cover them with soil and watch with wonder as they begin to poke out of the ground — it’s the start of the food we eat. However due to seasonal or space constraints, having a garden is not feasible for some families. Thankfully, it’s not the only way to grow your own food. Say hello to sprouts!

Sprouts are nutritional powerhouses that add flavor, texture and contrast to a salad or sandwich. Most varieties go from seed to sprout in about five days. The quickness of this crop makes it a great project for kids — they love watching the seeds germinate and grow.

Using a wide-mouth mason jar, a sprouting lid, sprouting seeds and clean water, you can grow your own food without sun or soil, at any time of the year. Growing sprouts is a great way to get kids excited about eating healthy food. With adult guidance, even young children can participate in the process of growing sprouts. It’s really that easy!
