Sneak Peek: See What Our Beauty Guru Can't Live Without
By Ellen Miller, March 16, 2017 | More posts by Ellen Miller
Meet Maren Giuliano, a natural beauty guru who leads the team that selects every last rosehip oil, charcoal bath bomb and vegan lipstick that ends up on shelves in the Whole Body department. She travels the world to discover new ingredients and brands, which means she’s more likely to be doing sun salutations in a hotel room than the LA yoga studio she co-owns with her husband. Here are the must-haves (beauty and otherwise) you’ll always find in her Lynn Tallerico leather bag.
Available at Whole Foods Market
evanhealy Tulsi (Holy Basil) Facial Tonic Hydrosoul “One of my all time favorite products — I mist my face throughout the day for hydration. The energy and fragrance in these hydrosols instantly transports you to a field of flowers.”
Whole Foods Market Sweet Pear Hand Cream “Such a rich and creamy hand cream — feels so luxurious on your skin. The pear fragrance is light happy.”
Burt’s Bees Lipstick in Iced Iris “This pretty pink stays on well, smells like berries and is very hydrating. And of course the ingredients are super clean. Don’t forget you end up ingesting some of the lipstick you wear.”
Trilogy Everything Balm “Travel sizes are always a theme for me since I’m on the road so much. I use this balm as a moisturizer on the go, but also I love the blended essential oil scent so much that mostly I use it as a fragrance.”
Schmidts Natural Deodorant in Lavender + Sage “You know that feeling when you suddenly realize you forgot to put your deodorant on in the morning? Well this travel sized version makes it’s super easy to carry around. The lavender sage has a nice herbal scent.”
Waxelene Petroleum Jelly Alternative Tube “They figured out how to have a waterproof barrier using only natural oils. I mostly use it for dry, chapped lips, but it also can be used for make-up removal.”
Mineral Fusion Concealer “Great for a quick cover up for any unexpected skin breakouts, and the clean ingredients won’t make the situation worse, which I appreciate.”
Boho Gypsy Cosmetic Bag “Each bag is unique and handmade in India using pieces of vintage fabric.”
Maren also loves …
Sunglasses “I got these while traveling for a Yoga Festival in Bulgaria. They were virtually half off, so I treated myself to these fun, summery glasses.”
Mala beads “I studied meditation with a teacher for 5 years and got these handmade mala beads as a way of reminding me to stay connected to my inner space.”
Crystals “I am crazy about gems and minerals. Not only are they beautiful to look at, but they each have a personality. I have quite a collection at home and choose to carry different ones depending on my mood. The two here are fluorite, which is great for clearing the mind and a mini lithium quartz crystal, which is great for stress and uplifting my mood.”
Phone “I love the Insight Timer app for meditating, not only does it have gongs, chimes and bell options that gently ring, but you can also see who else is meditating at the same time.”
Wallet “I like that it’s thin and has plenty pockets for cards, cash and change as well as a passport — great for holding any receipts while I’m traveling.”
