Blend of Cinsault, Syrah, and Grenache that come from dry-farmed, old bushvine vineyards (over 35yrs age), from the Badenhorst family farm. Grapes are hand-picked, pressed and fermented in concrete tanks, then aged 7 months on less in old French casks and cement tanks. Not fined and lightly filtered.
Winemaker & owner, Adi Badenhorst, purchased this winery in the Swartland region in 2008 (original was built in the 1930's) due to the amazing old bushvine vineyards of Chenin Blanc, Grenache, Cinsault. The various granite soils and very warm summers work well for these varietals. The Cinsault vines were planted in the 1960's and the Grenache vines in 1950's, which make them one of the oldest Grenache vineyards in all of South Africa.
Aromas are perfumed with ripe red fruit, spice, and pepper notes. Palate is supple, bright, and enough grip to finish dry with balanced fruit tannins.
Pairs well with grilled meats, charcuterie, and hard cheeses. Great for BBQ's, picnics, and evenings with friends enjoying pizza.
