Topped with pickled cabbage, melted cheese and a mixture of smoky barbecue sauce and sour cream, these burgers are the perfect excuse to fire up the grill.
Ingredients:
  • 1 1/2 pound lean ground beef, shaped into 4 patties
  • 1/4 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/4 cup light sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon smoky barbecue sauce
  • 4 slices Monterey Jack cheese
  • 1/2 head butter lettuce, separated into leaves
  • 1 large tomato, sliced
  • 4 whole wheat or sesame seed hamburger buns, split and toasted
  • 1/2 cup prepared kimchi (Korean fermented cabbage), at room temperature
Method:
Prepare a grill for medium-high heat cooking. Season burgers all over with salt and pepper. Meanwhile, stir together sour cream and barbecue sauce in a small bowl; set aside.

Grill burgers, flipping halfway through, until cooked to your liking, about 8 to 12 minutes. During the last few minutes of cooking, top each burger with a slice of cheese. Arrange lettuce and tomatoes on the bottom half of each bun and then top with burgers, reserved sauce and kimchi, and serve immediately.
