Old-Fashioned Sloppy Joes

Serves 4 to 6

This easy recipe, with the familiar flavors of Worcestershire sauce, ketchup and brown sugar, is sure to become a family favorite. Serve with a large green salad and plenty of napkins!

  • 1 1/2 pounds 85% lean ground beef
  • 1 yellow onion, chopped
  • Sea salt, to taste
  • Ground pepper, to taste
  • 1 cup tomato ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons prepared yellow mustard
  • 4 burger buns, toasted

Brown the beef in a nonstick skillet over medium heat, 5—7 minutes. Add onions and season with salt and pepper. Cook until onions soften, about 7 minutes. Add ketchup, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, sugar and mustard. Stir to combine. Simmer until slightly thickened, about 10 minutes. Spoon over split toasted hamburger buns.
