Japanese-Style Sesame Seasoning

This traditional Japanese seasoning, called gomashio, is made of toasted sesame seeds and sea salt. It adds a burst of nutty, salty flavor to any dish. Try sprinkling some over steamed rice and vegetables.

- 1 cup sesame seeds
- 1 teaspoon fine sea salt
Method
Toast sesame seeds in a skillet over medium heat, stirring constantly for 10 to 15 minutes or until they are toasted and take on an orange hue. Remove to a plate to cool.
Add salt to the same dry skillet. Stir constantly, toasting the salt for about 3 to 5 minutes.
Add salt to sesame seeds.
Store the gomashio in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a month.
