This easy punch is ideal for a festive brunch or lunch. The recipe makes a generous pitcherful; if you’re hosting a larger gathering, you can use a punch bowl and double or triple the recipe. For a large batch, freeze the lemon water and herbs in a medium-size metal bowl or a Bundt pan to make one big, slow-melting ice cube.
- Zest and juice of 1/2 large lemon
- 12 very small sprigs fresh mint or lavender
- 1 (750-ml) bottle sparkling wine, such as Cava or Prosecco chilled
- 1/2 (25-ounce) bottle lemon soda (about 1 1/2 cups) chilled
- 1 cup Concord grape juice chilled
Combine 1 1/2 cups water, lemon zest and lemon juice in a measuring cup with a pouring spout. Fill an ice cube tray with the mixture and push an herb sprig into each cube. Freeze until solid, 2 to 4 hours depending on your freezer.
When ready to serve, combine wine, soda and grape juice in a large pitcher. Add lemon ice cubes and serve.
