Spinach and Pear Purée
Makes about 1 cup
Time 15 min
What’s an easy way to encourage little ones to eat their spinach? Blend it with a ripe pear, which lends a hint of natural sweetness to the mix.
Special Diets:
Ingredients
- 1/2 pound baby spinach or roughly chopped spinach leaves (about 8 loosely packed cups)
- 1 small ripe pear, peeled, cored and chopped
Method
Combine spinach and 1 tablespoon water in a medium saucepan.
Cover and cook over medium heat for 3 minutes.
Uncover, toss well and cook until spinach is just wilted, about 1 minute more.
Add pear, cover and cook until tender, about 5 minutes.
Carefully transfer spinach mixture to a food processor and puree until smooth.
The puree will keep refrigerated in an airtight container for up to 3 days or in the freezer for up to 3 months.
(Suggested age: 8 months and up)
