Come join our Cooking At Home Specialist, Sarah, as she teaches you all the skills needed to successfully make sauces, dressings and marinades at home.  All skills welcomed.  Participants will be learning how to make roux for three classic sauces:  brown (gravy), red (tomato) and mornay (cheese).  We will also make an authentic curry, an Asian dipping sauce, a vinaigrette and discuss the science behind marinating.   Come hungry because you will be eating your creations throughout the class.  Class includes samples and take home recipe cards.

Sourdough Bread Workshop 
Sunday September 22nd  @3p | Hands-On | 4 hour | $175

Does the thought of baking a delicious loaf of sourdough bread get you excited? Do you currently bake sourdough bread and want to improve upon your results? If you answered yes to either of these questions, come join Kristen with Full Proof Baking in a Beginner to intermediate level, Hands-On Sourdough Bread Workshop. Kristen will demonstrate & teach the full method of making an open crumb sourdough bread from beginning to end. Throughout the workshop you will explore all aspects of the sourdough baking process, including starter/levain care, autolyzing, bulk fermentation, dough handling, final proof, & how to bake in a home oven! 

In class you will:

  • Learn how to fully activate your starter culture/levain before a bake.
  • Manage dough through all the steps of bulk fermentation and learn methods to build strength & structure into your dough.
  • Gently shape a dough at the end of bulk fermentation, monitor the dough during final proof, slash, & bake.

You will leave with:

  • A sample of Kristen's own sourdough starter (dehydrated) with instructions on how to rehydrate & maintain it.
  • One hot-out-of-the-oven sourdough loaf that you shaped & proofed yourself during class.
  • One not-quite-finished-bulking dough you worked on during class. This can be shaped, proofed, & baked in your own home oven
