Our Whole Foods Market Lincoln Park Cooking Classroom is on a mission to bring back and elevate home cooking in Chicago! We believe in teaching cooking classes for all skill levels; helping you make real food with ease, confidence, and passion. Our talented team of Cooking Specialists and Guest Chef’s offer weekly hands-on cooking classes for adults and children of all cooking comfort levels.

Come join our Cooking At Home Specialists, Sarah, as she shows you the simple techniques needed for safely using a knife.  Learn how to slice, dice and chop using a 10” chef knife!  All skill sets are welcomed.  You will leave class with new knife skills, a bag of freshly prepped vegetables and a delicious soup recipe to use them in.

Come join our Cooking At Home Specialist, Sarah, as she shows you the simple skills you need to create delicious meals without a recipe.  In class you will create two meals for yourself with the random ingredients provided, all without a recipe!

Join Sarah, our Cooking At Home Specialist, as she teaches you all you need to know about how to successfully cook proteins at home.  Learn how to properly sear a beef steak, safely prepare poultry, stuff a pork chop, make the perfect egg omelet, and demystify dry beans. So many diets come and go within a person’s life when they are trying to be healthy.  We would love to put to rest the term diet and teach people about a healthy food lifestyle.  Come join our Cooking At Home Specialist, Sarah, as she walks you through the steps to understanding what it means to eat for nutrition.  You will be shown you the techniques needed to create a lifestyle full of whole-food, nutrient-dense, mouth-watering recipes.  You will learn the techniques for steam frying, broth roasting, kale massaging, dairy free cream sauces and more!  Come hungry because you will be eating your creations throughout the class.

Learn how to make your own sushi.  Seriously, it’s not that hard!  Come join Sarah, our Cooking At Home Specialist and see how easy it is.  We will be making salmon nigiri, veggie rolls, and an authentic miso soup.  All participants will be eating their creations or taking them home if they can’t finish it all.

Join Sarah, our Cooking At Home Specialists, as she shows you the simple knife techniques needed for prepping produce beyond slicing and dicing.  Learn how to properly cut all the awkward produce. This includes cantaloupe, pineapple, avocado, cucumber, kiwi, cauliflower, mango, orange, greens, ginger and garlic.  You will be making three mouthwatering salads using your newly cut produce.  Produce subject to change due to availability.

Come join our Cooking At Home Specialist, Sarah, as she teaches you all the skills needed to successfully make sauces, dressings and marinades at home.  All skills welcomed.  Participants will be learning how to make roux for three classic sauces:  brown (gravy), red (tomato) and mornay (cheese).  We will also make an authentic curry, an Asian dipping sauce, a vinaigrette and discuss the science behind marinating.   Come hungry because you will be eating your creations throughout the class.  Class includes samples and take home recipe cards.

Join Olivia Wagner, Integrative Registered Dietitian Nutritionist as she shares easy to prepare meal prep staples for following a Whole30 style diet.  Our discussion will focus on Whole30 Basics, Pros/Cons of elimination diets, Day 31 and beyond, and the next steps to take if you don’t see the progress you were hoping for. All recipes are dairy, gluten, grain, and sugar free.

Chef Christopher Tong of the Chicago-based private gourmet dining service, My Private Chef, will present some delicious recipes perfect for Spring entertaining. People who are casual cooks or lovers of gourmet food get to ask questions, discuss preparation, and come away with fabulous recipes that you can try at home. Chef Chris will provide tips on shopping for the finest ingredients. And, everyone gets to have a taste!

Summer Camp descriptions will be posted online May 1st and will take place every Thursday and Friday between July 15 – August 25 for children ages 8-12.  We look forward to seeing your budding chefs in our cooking classroom!
