Resolving to be healthier, wealthier, wiser this year? So are we! This January, Whole Foods Market is full of inspiring ideas for your best year yet. Editorial Director Kara Chiles shares some of our favorites — did someone say green smoothie??
As enduring as the ritual of making New Year's resolutions, the habit of breaking them is equally great. In fact, a study found that less than half of resolution-makers have stuck to theirs six months later.
But this month we've come up with several ways to keep those promises to yourself and stay inspired. I find myself hard-pressed to not want to try to at least some of them. Recognize any of these popular annual ought-to's? Find yours and some ideas we have to make your January a healthy fresh start.
Eat better. This one you? We thought so. Diet is often that misunderstood wallflower at the party. To us, it means eating good foods, prepared well and in good company whether you're gluten-, lactose-, meat-free, or -free anything else. Use our advanced recipe search, where you can filter by special diets, find inspiration and break out of your pantry rut.
We’ve also updated our Healthy Eating Meal Plans. From comfort food to quick and easy to plant-based, we’ve provided a blueprint for your three squares — plus a few snacks and desserts. Because… desserts, right?
Get fit. If you got a yoga mat, running shoes or a gym membership over the holidays we feel you. You may have even asked for the trimmings to make a "new you." But that body is going to be downward dog-tired without some fuel. This month we're offering a couple of ways to power your fitness pursuit.
If you've visited one of our stores with a juice bar, then you know we take our smoothies seriously. So be sure to mark your calendar for January 1 — 3 and again for January 15 —17: Visit one of those locations on those dates to get a green smoothie for $3*. Or you can play along at home: Introducing our interactive Smoothie Builder! Mix and match a blend and get its nutritional profile.
Sometimes the hurdle isn’t motivation but having a friendly expert show you the ropes. Which is why we went right to Adriene Mishler of Yoga with Adriene, founder of the most popular yoga channel on YouTube. Turns out Adriene is a longtime Whole Foods Market shopper — girl knows her Whole Body department – and shares some of her secrets for keeping fitness fresh.
Save more. Tracking expenditures — whether dollars, calories or steps — isn’t often considered a topic for excitement. We partnered with SAVEUR Blog Award-winner Emilie Raffa of The Clever Carrot, who shared her tips for shopping trips that deliver deliciousness and deals.
Making a resolution last is a test of time. We know a little about that: Good things often take preparation, practice and, some times, patience. We’ll continue to be here for you as the new year unfolds.
