Stock a Healthy Pantry, Win a Gift Card

If your New Year’s resolutions involve healthy eating, read on for shopping tips and a chance to win a $99 Whole Foods Market gift card.

I don’t know about y’all, but the holidays pretty much wiped out my pantry. There’s hardly a bread crumb or a carton of broth left on the shelves. And that’s okay with me. After two months of holiday feasting, I’m ready to focus on lighter fare.

If your New Year’s resolutions involve healthy eating, read on for shopping tips and a chance to win a $99 Whole Foods Market gift card. UPDATE: Thank you to everyone that entered. Congrats to our randomly chosen winner, Jolee!

Based on past experience, I know I have to support my resolutions by re-stocking my kitchen. With plenty of healthy favorites on hand, I’m way less likely to order pizza and more likely to fix a delicious and nutritious meal.

I tend to approach pantry stocking the same way I’d make my favorite go-to meal — the Mighty Bowl of Goodness opens in a new tab. That is to say, I start with a base of whole grains and beans, then add fruits, veggies, seasonings and condiments.

The folks at Whole Foods Market have a healthy pantry shopping list opens in a new tab along these lines, as well as a brand new video that’s chock full of tasty shopping tips. Did you know red lentils only take 15 minutes to cook? Or that cooked rice freezes better when you spread it on a sheet of parchment paper? Check it out:

Pretty amazing tips, right?

Once you’ve re-stocked your pantry with healthy foods, it helps to have healthy recipes to try. Since I’m a big snacker, here are a few of my snack-time faves that you can make with items on the healthy pantry shopping list opens in a new tab.
