Crazy Cool Ice Cream Hack: Homemade Chocolate Shell

Dress up your dessert with this crazy ice cream hack. This video from our Freshly Made series will show you how to make a homemade version of store-bought chocolate shell.

From tracking down the perfect kitchen to making sure there are enough lemons to dress the set, Marie Guggedahl deems no detail too small when it comes to Whole Foods Market’s cooking series, Freshly Made opens in a new tab. As the associate producer, it’s her job to make sure the shoots run smoothly, which sometimes means being head taste tester on set. We asked her to share one of her favorite new recipe videos coming out of the studio.

In my mind, summertime means you can eat ice cream as much as you want, and the calories don’t count! When Molly, host of our video series Freshly Made, mentioned she’d like to shoot a homemade chocolate shell recipe I almost lost it. It may only contain three simple ingredients, bittersweet chocolate, coconut oil, and vanilla extract, but this shell will definitely up your ice cream sundae game. Bonus: Your children, nieces, nephew, grandchildren, etc. will think you hung the moon when you whip this recipe up for them.  Summer is not going to last long, so hurry up and fill your freezer with ice cream and make a vat of chocolate shell!
