DIY Belly Balm for Pregnant Mamas

Pregnant moms, take heart! Now you can soothe stretched, itchy belly skin without spending your baby’s future college fund on an expensive belly balm! We asked holistic esthetician Pam Crawford to help us develop a simple and effective belly cream that you can make at home from familiar, plant-based ingredients.

Since some essential oils are contraindicated for pregnancy, Pam created a recipe that gets its comforting aroma from moisturizing cocoa butter and vanilla extract. Bonus: When you rub it into your skin, you’ll smell as good as a plate of freshly baked cookies!

Belly Balm
1/2 cup 365 Everyday Value® Organic Unrefined Coconut Oil
1/2 cup pure cocoa butter
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

In a medium saucepan, melt coconut oil and cocoa butter. When melted, pour into a medium mixing bowl and whip with a whisk or electric hand mixer until mixture thickens. Add vanilla extract. Continue to whip until mixture is thick and creamy. Transfer to a sealable glass jar and store at room temperature for up to one month.
