I take the ends I've snapped off, put them in some broth and simmer for about 10 minutes to reduce the liquid a little. I then remove them with a slotted spoon, and cook the asparagus in the broth. I also freeze cubes of the broth when I done using it. Gives a nice delicate flavor to other dishes,

I love asparagus. I usually broil the asparagus that I have either sprayed with Pam and sprinkle with garlic powder. Broil for a few minutes. I was happy to see the blanching method and the pinching off of the ends. I just usually cut them off. But next time I will pinch off trim as suggested. Thanks for all the great tips.

More ideas to use the ends: I chop them up and add them to a frittata. I like to include mushrooms, leeks and green onions, a little Parm sprinkled on top as it goes in the oven.
