No Boring Chicken Recipes Allowed

Chicken is one of the most versatile meats out there so it always has a place on my weekly menu plan. Of course, I have my favorite chicken recipes, but I also get tired of the same dish week after week. I’ve found that chicken is the perfect protein to play with in the kitchen because it can take on flavors from sweet to extra-spicy, and can be prepared no matter your favorite cooking method, from baking to stir-fry to grilling. If you’re looking to make your weekly chicken dish even more special for your family, choose organic. What’s the big deal you ask? Well, let me tell you.

First off, all the chicken sold at Whole Foods Market®, organic or not, meets our standards that include no antibiotics – ever, no animal by-products in feed and no added growth hormones.* Next, all our chicken is step-rated to Global Animal Partnership’s 5-Step™ Animal Welfare Rating Standards opens in a new tab. These ratings are your way of knowing how the animals were raised for the meat you are buying.

Now, here’s what makes organic chicken organic:

  • Only chicken raised and processed according to the USDA organic standards can be labeled organic.

  • Like our meat standards, the use of synthetic growth hormones and the use of antibiotics are prohibited

  • Their feed is organically grown and they’re raised on organically managed land

  • They must be raised in natural living conditions appropriate for their species, which includes access to the outdoors

*Federal regulations prohibit the use of hormones in raising poultry
