5 Easy Ways to Build a Better Brunch for Mom

By John Stewart, May 7, 2018  |  More Posts by John Stewart
“Brunch” has to be one of the Top 100 Best Words of the English language. You can’t help but see bright plates of food, late-morning daylight and smiling, familiar faces. To help you bump up your next brunch (hello, Mother’s Day!), we’ve put Wallaby Organic Yogurt and Love Crunch Organic Granola on sale together*.
Good granola and yogurt bring a nice bright flavor and texture to your table. Here are five great recipes (thanks to our friends at Wallaby and Nature’s Path):
1. Be a brunch hero with these pretty tarts. The crust is made from granola and dates for a sweet and crunchy treat.

2. Kick off brunch right with these cute and easy starter bites.
3. Moist and light, packed with juicy blueberries and a crunchy chocolate granola swirl. Pairs perfectly with Mom and tea.
4. For the savory, tangy, crunchy side of brunch. Fresh, cool and irresistible.
Get the recipe: Yogurt Toast
5. A good dip is a great brunch add-on. Yogurt and lemon tanginess with warm herbal notes from the za’atar spice blend — perfect on a pita chip.
Note: Za'atar (or zahtar or zatar) is an earthy Middle Eastern spice blend that can contain a variety of different ingredients such as toasted sesame seeds, marjoram, thyme, cumin, oregano, sumac and sea salt. Each country has its own unique style of za'atar, and each family develops their own mix.

Wallaby + Nature’s Path

They’re separate companies that approach what they do in very similar ways — a commitment to organic ingredients, producing in small batches, with a focus on breakfasts and brunches that people love. Yogurt and granola couldn’t go together any better.
*Valid 5/2-5/15/18. While supplies last. No rain checks. U.S. stores only. Not valid at Whole Foods Market 365™ stores. Excludes Wallaby Aussie 6-oz. yogurt.

Doughnut Muffins and More Kid-Friendly Recipes for Mother’s Day

By Whole Story Editors, May 7, 2018  |  More Posts by Whole Story Editors

Get the recipe: Doughnut Muffins
Homemade baked goods are always a good idea — especially on Mother’s Day. Our friends at King Arthur Flour are sharing four of their favorite recipes that kids can make just in time for the brunches, picnics, afternoon teas and dinners that celebrate the moms in their lives. Help kids bake for mom or make it a family affair. Mom won’t mind helping as long as she doesn’t have to do the dishes.
Doughnut Muffins
Mom deserves doughnut muffins. Luckily, this sugar-cinnamon-nutmeg flavored muffin with a cake-like texture is quick and easy to make. Plus, it’s a good candidate for additions of dried fruit and/or nuts to the batter — see what combos the kids can dream up. Serve with jam.

Everyday Whole Grain Bread
Move over, macaroni necklace, there’s a new go-to for Mother’s Day. Fresh homemade bread. This recipe uses equal parts all-purpose and white whole wheat flours to produce a high-rising, tender loaf that’s somewhere between hearty and mild. Bake it in a loaf pan or make into a freeform loaf — it’s nearly foolproof either way.
Whole Wheat Waffles
Crisp and light, these waffles check all the boxes. For a gluten-free swap, substitute King Arthur Gluten-Free Measure for Measure Flour for the all-purpose flour in the recipe — no other changes are needed.

Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies
Go beyond the standard chocolate chip cookie! These soft and chewy cookies are packed with chips and have the surprising addition of nutty tasting oats. Try them in ice cream sandwiches: simply sandwich a scoop of softened ice cream between two cookies and press gently.

Inspiring Connections and Community Through Baking

King Arthur Flour is an employee-owned company with a mission to inspire connections and community by spreading the joy of baking. In addition to producing unbleached and unbromated flours (look for their organic varieties in our stores!), they have been providing bakers with baking expertise and resources since 1790.
King Arthur Flour believes that it can change the world through baking and aims to bring this vision to life in many ways, most notably through its Bake for Good: Kids program. This 25-year-old program sends instructors into schools across the country — more than 175 annually — to teach students about baking at no charge.
Then each student takes home a tote bag with everything they need to bake bread from scratch. Over the weekend, students bake two loaves of Everyday Whole Grain Bread (recipe above) with their families. One loaf is to enjoy at home and the second comes back to school to be given to a local charity. King Arthur Flour also cares about improving the way food is grown, produced and accessed. As a member of 1% for the Planet, they’ve supported organizations like Whole Kids Foundation® that create positive change.

Aromatic, Delicate and Delicious — 7 Ways to Try the Botanicals Trend

By John Stewart, May 1, 2018  |  More Posts by John Stewart

Remember the first time you tried an edible flower and it hit you — they taste really good. That kind of game-changing experience drives what’s now a full-blown trend and it’s why we’ve developed a line of limited edition botanical treats and drinks. They capture the subtle aromatics and sweetness of geranium, hibiscus, lavender and more in buttery shortbread cookies, creamy gelatos, even lemonades and granola. Try the trend — they’re in store now and since they’re “limited edition,” they won’t be around forever.

Try These 7 Limited Botanical Editions
1. Our Organic Blackberry Rose Lemonade is wonderful by itself or add a splash of sparkling water for a light, refreshing spritzer. Grab a bottle for your next picnic.
2. A classic with an aromatic twist, our Organic Lemon Elderflower Italian Soda refreshes delicately. The bubbly, tart notes of bright lemon flavor and the aromatic sweetness of elderflowers create a perfect cocktail mixer.
3. Take tea time in a subtle new direction with our lightly powdered and delicately crispy Lemon Lavender or Orange Blossom Shortbread Cookies. These bite-size treats are slightly sweet and buttery.
4. Creamy richness is the perfect counterpoint to subtle aromatics in our Raspberry and Rose Lychee Italian Gelato and Honey Lavender Italian Gelato. Both are handcrafted in Italy in small batches. Pairs well with easy summer entertaining.
5. Surprise and delight your taste buds with our Lemon Lavender Granola. Whole grain rolled oats infused with notes of lemon and lavender make a perfect quick breakfast with milk or yogurt. Pack some right out of the box for that day hike.
6. Dark Chocolate Violet Marshmallows. Violet flavored marshmallows, perfectly whisked, covered with rich dark chocolate. Irresistible any time when you need a sweet bite.
