The Village is a celebration of women in coffee, composed of seasonally-rotating selections from valued relationships with female producers and cooperatives, aimed at highlighting and addressing this gender gap.
According to strong research, investing in women increases the sustainability of coffee everywhere—women are more likely to reinvest their income back into their families, their coffee businesses, and their communities. And when access to decision-making and the global marketplace improves for women farmers, quality improves too.

We are committed to sourcing at least 80% of our coffees from Rainforest Alliance certified producers. This means that farmers use methods that support three pillars of sustainability: social, economic, and environmental. Independent, third-party auditors evaluate farmers against requirements in all three areas before awarding or renewing certification.
Because Rainforest Alliance certification extends beyond the farm, all actors in the supply stream, including roasters as the final stewards of the coffee, must adhere to a rigorous set of standards. We’re proud to hold this accountability—it’s an essential part of contributing to a more equitable and sustainable supply stream.
Who is Joe Coffee? We are a New York based collection of specialty coffee shops, with a roastery in Long Island City, Queens. Ever since we opened our first café in Greenwich Village in 2003, we have been relentlessly dedicated to the pursuit of high quality coffee, sustainable sourcing and warm hospitality.
