Whether for breakfast, dessert or a snack, parfaits are a scrumptious way to get fresh fruit and nuts into your day! Plus, they can go from casual to elegant simply by layering more carefully.
Ingredients
  • 3 cups fresh fruit
  • 1 cup something crunchy
  • 3 cups something creamy

Method

Choose 4 glass tumblers or wine glasses for assembling your parfaits.

Alternate layers of fruit with crunchy and creamy ingredients in each glass, spreading them out to the edges to create visible layers.

Top off parfaits with a garnish of fresh fruit and a little crunch; serve.

This sweet favorite literally has hundreds of possibilities:
FRESH: pitted cherries, green or red grapes, or chopped peaches, nectarines, plums, watermelon, cantaloupe or honeydew.
CRUNCHY: trail mix, crumbled cookies, toasted coconut, chopped nuts, pumpkin seeds or breakfast cereal.
CREAMY: ice cream, yogurt, whipped cream or crème fraîche.
SWIRL: honey, jam, marmalade, maple syrup, chocolate or caramel sauce.
SURPRISE: chopped fresh mint, mini marshmallows, almond or peanut butter or chocolate chips.
GARNISH: a quarter of a toasted waffle, a vanilla wafer or a long sliver of cinnamon and sugar toast.
