The Sport of Grid is the world’s first professional spectator sport with co-ed teams that compete in strategic athletics racing. The National Pro Grid League (NPGL) is where the world comes to watch teams from across the country challenge each other physically and strategically on the Grid. With professional teams representing eight major US cities, these athletes will learn to compete together for the championship, and prove that we are Faster Together.

Whole Foods Market Northern California proudly supports our local team, San Francisco Fire, as they compete in this year’s NPGL season. Meet some of the athletes from the SF Fire team below. In the upcoming weeks you too can follow along with these athletes as they prepare to compete. Be sure to check out @SanFranFire, @WholeFoodsMarketTriCoCo, #FuelingTheFire, and #WholeFoodsHaul to follow along!

Beaver has been many things in her life: A student. A world traveler. A businesswoman. An athlete. She grew up as a dancer, gymnast and track and field athlete before becoming a competitive cheerleader at the University of the Pacific. She spent two years living abroad in Australia before the California native returned home to be closer to her family, and to continue her athletic career.
Beaver was drafted into the NPGL in 2015 as the first pick of the San Francisco Fire. She is the owner and proprietor of her own healthy snack business called Livin’ Paleo, and lists her family and friends as her motivation to improve as an athlete.

Now, she is a strong utility player for the Fire. Pichelli is a four-time CrossFit Games competitor with a career best 4th place finish in 2013. In 2013 and 2014 she was the winner of the NorCal Regional.

Buddy played basketball and ran track during high school and college. He started using CrossFit as an aid to help strengthen his overall fitness and in doing that found the sport of GRID. He is part owner and operator at CrossFit Excel in Manteca, Ca. He is grateful for the opportunity to share his passion of fitness and pass on what he has learned to the people in his community. He attributes his success to the people in his life: parents, mentors, girlfriend, and his bulldog.

One of Buddy’s favorite products that supports his training is First Light Grass-Fed Ground Venison.  Follow along at @WholeFoodsMarketTriCoCo to found out why!
