Take a Cooking Class

We've got great classes, just for kids. All classes are suitable for 5-12 year olds unless otherwise listed. All classes are intended to be drop-off classes, unless otherwise listed, and are signed up for individually. Pre-registration is required for all cooking classes. Here's what's coming up this year. If you see a class you're intersted in marked as "Sold out" please contact us at 612.927.8141 or ani.loizzo@wholefoods.com and we can add you to the waiting list for that class in case there is a cancellation.

FEBRUARY

Saturday, February 23rd | 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Kids in the Kitchen: Rock and Roll Sushi- SOLD OUT!

This class will be taught by Chef Ani. With a little rice, a little rolling and a few of your favorite ingredients, you can make your very own maki or sushi rolls at home! Sushi rolls are a great hands-on cooking experiment for kids, and Chef Ani will teach you all about rice, seaweed, fish and more in this fun class full of hands-on cooking time. If you’re not a big fan of raw fish, don’t worry- you can make some sushi with cooked fish or no fish at all. You’ll snack on sesame edamame, sip some miso soup, make your own maki rolls and even enjoy the mysterious but delicious dessert sushi. This class is gluten free and can be vegetarian upon request (please specify when registering). Classes are suitable for kids 5-12, and are drop off classes- kids only please! Please wear clothes you don’t mind getting a little dirty. Pre-registration is required.

Saturday, March 9th | 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Kids in the Kitchen: A Journey to Italy- SOLD OUT!

This class will be taught by Chef Ani. Join us for a quick trip to Italy! We’ll explore different cheeses, fresh fruits and veggies, pasta and more in this fun hands on cooking class. We’ll whip up fresh pasta with pesto, a winter caprese salad on a stick, garlic knots and chocolate chip cannoli for dessert. This is vegetarian. This class cannot offer gluten free or dairy free options.  Classes are suitable for kids 5-12, and are drop off classes- kids only please! Please wear clothes you don’t mind getting a little dirty. Pre-registration is required.

Saturday, March 16th | 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Kids in the Kitchen: St. Paddy’s Day!- SOLD OUT!

This class will be taught by Chef Ani. Leap into the classroom for an hour of Irish food, fun and history! You’ll learn all about the history of Ireland while trying Irish cheeses, Irish potato stew, Irish boxty (potato pancake) and Irish scones with jam. Special skills we’ll practice include browning meat, mixing, cracking eggs and making a fruit sauce. You’ll have so much fun, you might go home dancing a jig! This class can be vegetarian (please specify when registering). This class cannot offer gluten free or dairy free options.  Classes are suitable for kids 5-12, and are drop off classes- kids only please! Please wear clothes you don’t mind getting a little dirty. Pre-registration is required.

Kids in the Kitchen: Intermediate Baking- SOLD OUT!

This class will be taught by Chef Ani. If you missed out on the first baking class, or you’re ready to graduate to the next level, here’s another round of our popular baking class. Many kids have a sweet tooth (or teeth!), and baking is a great way to learn reading, math, science and more in the kitchen! In this fun class, we’ll learn how to make some kid friendly baking classics. You’ll make your own lemon cupcakes, cheesy herb biscuits, naan bread and little ham and cheese quiche. You’ll learn all about ingredients and what many different baking terms like “cream”, “whip” and “sift” mean. This class can be vegetarian and can be peanut or tree nut free (please specify when registering) but cannot offer gluten free or vegan options. Classes are suitable for kids ages 8-12, and are drop off classes- kids only please! Please wear clothes you don’t mind getting a little dirty. Please note that this class is longer than our usual Saturday classes, and that a main meal will not be served, though there will theoretically be plenty of treats to take home. Pre-registration is required.

Saturday, March 30th | 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Kids in the Kitchen: A Foray to France- SOLD OUT!

This class will be taught by Chef Ani. Join us for a quick trip to France! In this class, we’ll learn all about how French kids eat and cook, taste some different French ingredients, and whip up a French feast! We’ll whisk up miniature quiche, savory crepes, and a chocolate clafoutis (big chocolate pancake!). This class can be vegetarian but cannot offer gluten free or vegan options. Classes are suitable for kids ages 5-12, and are drop off classes- kids only please! Please wear clothes you don’t mind getting a little dirty. Pre-registration is required.

A Note About Birthday Parties:

We will no longer be offering birthday parties at our Uptown location. All currently scheduled birthday parties will take place as planned, but no new reservations will be accepted.
