Take a Cooking Class

We've got great classes, just for kids. All classes are suitable for 5-12 year olds unless otherwise listed. All classes are intended to be drop-off classes, unless otherwise listed, and are signed up for individually. Pre-registration is required for all cooking classes. Here's what's coming up this year. The Whole Kids Club Presents...Bake with Your Kids: Holiday Cookies- Session I- SOLD OUT!

This class will be taught by Chef Ani. Mixing up, rolling out, cutting out, baking and icing cookies with your kids can be so much fun, but oh, the mess. No problem- you can use our kitchen! In this fun family class, we’ll make homemade sugar cookies from start to finish. You’ll have many cookies to take home and enjoy, and no mess to clean up! Parents, please note: this is not a drop-off class. At least one parent is required to participate in the class. Due to space restrictions, each family reservation is limited to four people. Please indicate in your registration how many people will be attending. All supplies are included, but please feel free to bring favorite cookie cutters from home if you so desire. Pre-registration is required.

Cost: $30 per family

Kids in the Kitchen: Rise And Shine, it’s Breakfast Time!- SOLD OUT!

This class will be taught by Chef Ani. Many of us hear from grown-ups that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and Chef Ani will show you how to make it the most delicious meal of the day too! You’ll whip up a monkey’s favorite smoothie, lemon poppy seed mini muffins, purple whole grain pancakes and omelet tortilla roll ups that will make your mornings extra yummy. Please note that this class starts a little earlier than our usual Saturday classes. This class is vegetarian. This class cannot offer gluten-free options. This class is suitable for kids ages 5-12 and is a drop-off class- kids only please! Pre-registration is required.

Kids in the Kitchen: Beginning Baking- SOLD OUT!

This class will be taught by Chef Ani. If you missed out on the Fall baking class, here’s another round of our most popular kids’ class: beginning baking. Many kids have a sweet tooth (or teeth!), and baking is a great way to learn reading, math, science and more in the kitchen! In this fun class, we’ll learn how to make some kid friendly baking classics. You’ll make your own cinnamon swirl mini muffins, cornbread, fresh tortillas and monster cookies. You’ll learn all about ingredients and what many different baking terms like “cream”, “whip” and “sift” mean. This class is vegetarian and can be peanut or tree nut free (please specify when registering) but cannot offer gluten free or vegan options. Classes are suitable for kids ages 5-12, and are drop off classes- kids only please! Please wear clothes you don’t mind getting a little dirty. Please note that this class is longer than our usual Saturday classes, and that a main meal will not be served, though there will theoretically be plenty of treats to take home. Pre-registration is required.

Saturday, January 19th | 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Kids in the Kitchen: Delicious Dumplings- SOLD OUT!

This class will be taught by Chef Ani. You could travel all around the world, and almost everywhere you went, there would be delicious dumplings. A dumpling can be made from bread or grains, or can be filling stuffed in a wrapper made from many different things. In this class, we’re going to visit three countries on the Dumpling Express- Italy for cheesy herb ravioli, Japan for turkey and cabbage potstickers and back to America for cherry berry handpies. This class might get a little messy, so make sure you’re not wearing your most favorite fancy clothes today! This class is hands on.  Vegetarian options are available (please specify when registering). This class cannot offer gluten-free or vegan options. Classes are suitable for kids 5-12, and are drop off classes- kids only please! Pre-registration is required.

FEBRUARY
Saturday, February 2nd | 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Kids in the Kitchen: Celebrate Chinese New Year- SOLD OUT!

This class will be taught by Chef Ani. It’s time to celebrate another New Year- Chinese New Year! This year will be the year of the pig on the Chinese lunar calendar. We’ll get started on the right foot for a year full of luck with pan fried dumplings, long noodles with sesame, strange flavored chicken and sweet sticky rice cakes too. We’ll even try some new citrus fruits to celebrate the coming year. This class might get a little messy, so make sure you’re not wearing your most favorite fancy clothes today! This class is hands on. This class cannot offer gluten-free or vegetarian options. Classes are suitable for kids 5-12, and are drop off classes- kids only please! Pre-registration is required.

Kids in the Kitchen: Loco for Cocoa- SOLD OUT!

This class will be taught by Chef Ani. It’s hardly difficult to get kids to eat chocolate, but few people (kids or adults) know what a magical ingredient it is! In this class, you’ll taste different types of chocolate with Chef Ani, learn about its history and how it is made, then turn it into tiny chocolate tarts, s’more bark, chocolate mint pudding and tiny chocolate brownies. Parents, please note that a traditional meal will not be served during this class- just treats! This class is vegetarian. Classes are suitable for kids 5-12, and are drop off classes- kids only please! Pre-registration is required.

Saturday, February 23rd | 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Kids in the Kitchen: Rock and Roll Sushi- SOLD OUT!

This class will be taught by Chef Ani. With a little rice, a little rolling and a few of your favorite ingredients, you can make your very own maki or sushi rolls at home! Sushi rolls are a great hands-on cooking experiment for kids, and Chef Ani will teach you all about rice, seaweed, fish and more in this fun class full of hands-on cooking time. If you’re not a big fan of raw fish, don’t worry- you can make some sushi with cooked fish or no fish at all. You’ll snack on sesame edamame, sip some miso soup, make your own maki rolls and even enjoy the mysterious but delicious dessert sushi. This class is gluten free and can be vegetarian upon request (please specify when registering). Classes are suitable for kids 5-12, and are drop off classes- kids only please! Please wear clothes you don’t mind getting a little dirty. Pre-registration is required.

MARCH

Saturday, March 9th | 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Kids in the Kitchen: A Journey to Italy- SOLD OUT!

This class will be taught by Chef Ani. Join us for a quick trip to Italy! We’ll explore different cheeses, fresh fruits and veggies, pasta and more in this fun hands on cooking class. We’ll whip up fresh pasta with pesto, a winter caprese salad on a stick, garlic knots and chocolate chip cannoli for dessert. This is vegetarian. This class cannot offer gluten free or dairy free options.  Classes are suitable for kids 5-12, and are drop off classes- kids only please! Please wear clothes you don’t mind getting a little dirty. Pre-registration is required.

Saturday, March 16th | 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Kids in the Kitchen: St. Paddy’s Day!- THREE OPEN SPOTS!

This class will be taught by Chef Ani. Leap into the classroom for an hour of Irish food, fun and history! You’ll learn all about the history of Ireland while trying Irish cheeses, Irish potato stew, Irish boxty (potato pancake) and Irish scones with jam. Special skills we’ll practice include browning meat, mixing, cracking eggs and making a fruit sauce. You’ll have so much fun, you might go home dancing a jig! This class can be vegetarian (please specify when registering). This class cannot offer gluten free or dairy free options.  Classes are suitable for kids 5-12, and are drop off classes- kids only please! Please wear clothes you don’t mind getting a little dirty. Kids in the Kitchen: Intermediate Baking- ONE OPEN SPOT!

This class will be taught by Chef Ani. If you missed out on the first baking class, or you’re ready to graduate to the next level, here’s another round of our popular baking class. Many kids have a sweet tooth (or teeth!), and baking is a great way to learn reading, math, science and more in the kitchen! In this fun class, we’ll learn how to make some kid friendly baking classics. You’ll make your own lemon cupcakes, cheesy herb biscuits, naan bread and little ham and cheese quiche. You’ll learn all about ingredients and what many different baking terms like “cream”, “whip” and “sift” mean. This class can be vegetarian and can be peanut or tree nut free (please specify when registering) but cannot offer gluten free or vegan options. Classes are suitable for kids ages 8-12, and are drop off classes- kids only please! Please wear clothes you don’t mind getting a little dirty. Please note that this class is longer than our usual Saturday classes, and that a main meal will not be served, though there will theoretically be plenty of treats to take home. Pre-registration is required.

Saturday, March 30th | 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Kids in the Kitchen: A Foray to France- SOLD OUT!

This class will be taught by Chef Ani. Join us for a quick trip to France! In this class, we’ll learn all about how French kids eat and cook, taste some different French ingredients, and whip up a French feast! We’ll whisk up miniature quiche, savory crepes, and a chocolate clafoutis (big chocolate pancake!). This class can be vegetarian but cannot offer gluten free or vegan options. Classes are suitable for kids ages 5-12, and are drop off classes- kids only please! Please wear clothes you don’t mind getting a little dirty. Pre-registration is required.

We offer birthday parties with many themes for kids 5 and up. To inquire about scheduling a birthday party, contact Chef Ani at ani.loizzo@wholefoods.com at least six weeks before your ideal birthday party date. Please note that our first availabe weekend opening for a birthday party is May 2019.
