Take a Cooking Class

We've got great classes, just for kids. All classes are suitable for 5-12 year olds unless otherwise listed. All classes are intended to be drop-off classes, unless otherwise listed, and are signed up for individually. Pre-registration is required for all cooking classes. Here's what's coming up this year. If you see a class you're intersted in marked as "Sold out" please contact us at 612.927.8141 or ani.loizzo@wholefoods.com and we can add you to the waiting list for that class in case there is a cancellation.

APRIL

Saturday, April 27th | 9:00- 10:00 a.m.

Kids in the Kitchen: Rise and Shine, It’s Breakfast Time- SOLD OUT!

This class will be taught by Chef Ani. Many of us hear from grown-ups that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and Chef Ani will show you how to make it the most delicious meal of the day too! You’ll whip up a chocolate covered strawberry smoothie, breakfast tacos, a fluffy, puffy pancake called a Dutch Baby and blueberry scones that will make your mornings extra yummy. Please note that this class starts a little earlier than our usual Saturday classes. This class is vegetarian. This class cannot offer gluten-free options. This class is suitable for kids ages 5-12 and is a drop-off class- kids only please! Pre-registration is required.

Cost: $15 per kid

Kids in the Kitchen: The Brunch Bunch- SOLD OUT!

This class will be taught by Chef Ani. Kids in the Kitchen: A Journey to Mexico- SOLD OUT!

This class will be taught by Chef Ani. Join us for a quick trip to have lunch in the sunshine of our neighbor to the South- Mexico! Just like the United States, Mexico is a big place with lots of different types of food, many of which are perfect for kid cooks. We’ll whip up horchata (almond/rice milk with cinnamon), gucacamole with lime, build your own tacos with homemade tortillas and tres leches cupcakes. This class is vegetarian. This class cannot offer gluten-free options. This class is suitable for kids ages 5-12 and is a drop-off class- kids only please! Pre-registration is required.

Cost: $15 per kid

 

Saturday, May 11th | 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Kids in the Kitchen: Pancakes of the World- SOLD OUT!

This class will be taught by Chef Ani. Pancakes: they’re not just for breakfast anymore. Pancakes can be sweet or salty, spicy, or even cheesy. They’re eaten for breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert, in all sorts of ways, in all sorts of places. We’re going to make some new and interesting pancakes from around the world: Chinese scallion sesame pancakes, Venezuelan cachapas (corn cakes with cheese) and crepes with chocolate. We’ll do lots of egg cracking, rolling, flipping and whisking, so wear clothes you don’t mind getting a little dirty. This class is hands on. Vegetarian options are available (please specify when registering). This class cannot offer gluten-free or vegan options. Classes are suitable for kids 5-12, and are drop off classes- kids only please! Pre-registration is required.

Saturday, May 18th | 9:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.

Kids in the Kitchen: Breakfast Baking- SOLD OUT!

This class will be taught by Chef Ani. Wake up early and bake up some breakfast! We’ll whip up special breakfast treats like a giant oven pancake, chocolate chip muffins, healthy breakfast cookies and cheesy breakfast biscuits. You’ll learn all about different ways to mix and measure, cracking eggs and much more. Please note that this class starts a little earlier than our usual Saturday classes. This class is hands on. Vegetarian options are available (please specify when registering). This class cannot offer gluten-free or vegan options. Classes are suitable for kids 5-12, and are drop off classes- kids only please! Pre-registration is required.

Cost: $20 per kid

 

Saturday, May 25th | 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Kids in the Kitchen: Beginning Baking- SOLD OUT!

This class will be taught by Chef Ani. Many kids have a sweet tooth (or teeth!), and baking is a great way to learn reading, math, science and more in the kitchen! In this fun class, we’ll learn how to make some kid friendly baking classics. You’ll make your own cheese scones, herby crepes, chocolate cupcakes with chocolate buttercream and jam thumbprint cookies. You’ll learn all about ingredients and what many different baking terms like “cream”, “whip” and “sift” mean. This class is vegetarian and can be peanut or tree nut free (please specify when registering) but cannot offer gluten free or vegan options. Classes are suitable for kids ages 5-12, and are drop off classes- kids only please! Please wear clothes you don’t mind getting a little dirty. Please note that this class is longer than our usual Saturday classes, and that a main meal will not be served, though there will theoretically be plenty of treats to take home. Pre-registration is required.

Cost: $20 per kid


A Note About Birthday Parties:

We will no longer be offering birthday parties at our Uptown location. All currently scheduled birthday parties will take place as planned, but no new reservations will be accepted.
