Take a Cooking Class

We've got great classes, just for kids. All classes are suitable for 5-12 year olds unless otherwise listed. All classes are intended to be drop-off classes, unless otherwise listed, and are signed up for individually. Pre-registration is required for all cooking classes. Here's what's coming up this year. AUGUST

Saturday, August 25th | 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Kids in the Kitchen: Super Snacks- SOLD OUT!

This class will be taught by Chef Ani. There is so much healthy food out there for you to eat, and a lot of it is super delicious! In this class, we’ll enjoy fruits, veggies, beans, grains and more that will help your body and brain to grow while tasting really awesome too, especially when it’s time for a SNACK! We’ll make pan roasted ranch chickpeas, pb & j bites, cheese crackers and apple blender muffins. This class is vegetarian, but cannot be gluten free or vegan. This class is open to kids ages 5-12. Our kids’ classes are drop off classes- kids only, please! Pre-registration is required.

Cost: $15 per kid

SEPTEMBER

Saturday, September 8th | 2:00-3:30 p.m.

Kids in the Kitchen: Basic Baking- SOLD OUT!

This class will be taught by Chef Ani. If you missed out on the Spring baking class, here’s another round of our most popular kids’ class: beginning baking. Many kids have a sweet tooth (or teeth!), and baking is a great way to learn reading, math, science and more in the kitchen! In this fun class, we’ll learn how to make some kid friendly baking classics. You’ll make your own popovers, buttermilk biscuits, white chocolate fruit tarts and peanut butter cookies. You’ll learn all about ingredients and what many different baking terms like “cream”, “whip” and “sift” mean. This class is vegetarian and can be peanut or tree nut free (please specify when registering) but cannot offer gluten free or vegan options. Classes are suitable for kids ages 5-12, and are drop off classes- kids only please! Please wear clothes you don’t mind getting a little dirty. Please note that this class is later and longer than our usual Saturday classes, and that a main meal will not be served, though there will theoretically be plenty of treats to take home. Pre-registration is required.

Saturday, September 22nd | 10:00- 11:00 a.m.

Kids in the Kitchen: Baking Up Breakfast- SOLD OUT!

This class will be taught by Chef Ani. Many of us hear from grown-ups that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and Chef Ani will show you how to make it the most delicious meal of the day too! You’ll whip up an apple carrot smoothie, blueberry lemon scones, whole grain pancakes and cheesy scrambled eggs with zucchini that will make your mornings extra yummy. Please note that this class starts a little earlier than our usual Saturday classes. This class is vegetarian. This class cannot offer gluten-free options. This class is suitable for kids ages 5-12 and is a drop-off class- kids only please! Pre-registration is required.

OCTOBER

Saturday, October 6th | 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Kids in the Kitchen: Rock and Roll Sushi- SOLD OUT!

This class will be taught by Chef Ani. With a little rice, a little rolling and a few of your favorite ingredients, you can make your very own maki or sushi rolls at home! Sushi rolls are a great hands-on cooking experiment for kids, and Chef Ani will teach you all about rice, seaweed, fish and more in this fun class full of hands-on cooking time. If you’re not a big fan of raw fish, don’t worry- you can make some sushi with cooked fish or no fish at all. You’ll snack on sesame edamame, sip some miso soup, make your own maki rolls and even enjoy the mysterious but delicious dessert sushi. This class is gluten free and can be vegetarian upon request (please specify when registering). Classes are suitable for kids ages 5-12, and are drop off classes- kids only please! Please wear clothes you don’t mind getting a little dirty. Pre-registration is required.

Kids in the Kitchen: The Great Pumpkin- SOLD OUT!

This class will be taught by Chef Ani. Tis’ the season for pumpkins. We’ll carve them up for Halloween, and later, bake them up for Thanksgiving. Pumpkins are really good at being decoration and dessert, but they’re good for so much more, and they’re from right here in America! We’ll whip up some super delicious pumpkin treats including pumpkin smoothies, pumpkin hummus with pumpkin seeds, pumpkin gnocchi and pumpkin pancakes for dessert. This class is vegetarian, but cannot offer gluten free or vegan options. This class is open to kids ages 5-12. Our kids’ classes are drop off classes- kids only, please! Pre-registration is required.

Saturday, October 27th | 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Kids in the Kitchen: Spooky Sweets and Tricky Treats- SOLD OUT!

This class will be taught by Chef Ani. Gather round goblins, witches and ghouls, it’s Halloween time! It’s time for tricks, treats and delicious creepy snacks, to show off your costume, and to learn the history of Halloween. In this fun class, we’ll whip up lots of delicious things to eat without icky artificial coloring or high fructose corn syrup. We’ll whip up slime, spider dip with bat wings, pizza skulls, cheesy mummies, marzipan monsters and other foods only a mummy could love. This class is open to kids 5-12 and are drop off classes- kids only, please! Please note that this class will be a little longer than our usual Saturday cooking classes. Costumes are encouraged! Vegetarian options are available, but this class cannot be gluten free. Pre-registration is required.

NOVEMBER

Saturday, November 3rd | 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Kids in the Kitchen: Apple-y Ever After- SOLD OUT!

This class will be taught by Chef Ani. You may have heard that “an apple a day keeps the doctor” and after this class, you’ll feel great for a whole month! We’ll learn about different types of apples, the history of apples, Johnny Appleseed, and how Minnesota plays an important part in the apples you eat every day. Then, we’ll whip up some super delicious apple treats including spiced apple cider, fancy grilled cheese with apples, applesauce and apple crumble for dessert. This class is vegetarian, but cannot offer gluten free or vegan options. This class is open to kids ages 5-12. Our kids’ classes are drop off classes- kids only, please! Pre-registration is required.

Saturday, November 10th | 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Kids in the Kitchen: Soup-er Duper- SOLD OUT!

This class will be taught by Chef Ani. If you’re a little chilly, there’s no better way to warm up than a delicious bowl of soup. Soup is easy to make and can be made 1,000 different ways with fruits, veggies, meat, beans, grains and more! In this class, we’re going to whip up chicken soup with dumplings, broccoli cheese soup and even coconut mango soup for dessert! This class can be gluten free and have limited vegetarian offerings (please specify when registering). Classes are suitable for kids 5-12, and are drop off classes- kids only please! Pre-registration is required.

The Whole Kids Club Presents...Bake with Your Kids: Holiday Cookies- Session I- SOLD OUT!

This class will be taught by Chef Ani. Mixing up, rolling out, cutting out, baking and icing cookies with your kids can be so much fun, but oh, the mess. No problem- you can use our kitchen! In this fun family class, we’ll make homemade sugar cookies from start to finish. You’ll have many cookies to take home and enjoy, and no mess to clean up! Parents, please note: this is not a drop-off class. At least one parent is required to participate in the class. Due to space restrictions, each family reservation is limited to four people. Please indicate in your registration how many people will be attending. All supplies are included, but please feel free to bring favorite cookie cutters from home if you so desire. Pre-registration is required.

Cost: $30 per family

Schedule a Birthday Party

We offer birthday parties with many themes for kids 5 and up. To inquire about scheduling a birthday party, contact Chef Ani at ani.loizzo@wholefoods.com at least six weeks before your ideal birthday party date. Please note that our first availabe weekend opening for a birthday party is January 2019.
