Whether you’re new to the kitchen, want to sharpen your culinary skills or just want to have a fun night out with your spouse or friends, we have the cooking class for you at our Salud! Cooking School. Join us for demonstration and hands-on cooking and wine classes, led by our own in-store instructors as well as some of Memphis' most exciting chefs, artisans and authors. Our instructional kitchen offers affordable, recreational culinary education for all ages.

 

Seating and enrollment are on a first-come, first-served basis. If a class is sold out, please call 901-969-4199 or email brianna.rogers@wholefoods.com to be placed on our waiting list. With some exceptions, registration closes 48 hours prior to class. Payment is made at the time of registration.

Class Information

All classes include recipes or a class lecture packet and servings of each recipe prepared.

•Hands-On Classes

Be prepared to cook! Please remember to wear flat, closed-toe shoes and comfortable clothing. Aprons and towels will be provided for your use in class. Students are divided into groups at the discretion of the instructor. Snacks are provided during class. Towards the end of class, you will be seated to enjoy your meal along with wine. Classes are limited to 12 students ages 18 & over unless noted otherwise; students 16 and over may attend with a registered parent or guardian.

•Demonstration Classes

Relax and watch us do the work! You will be seated throughout the class and encouraged to ask lots of questions. Tastings of each recipe are served typically as they are prepared. Classes include up to two glasses of red or white wine. Classes are for students 18 & over unless noted otherwise; students under 18 may attend with a registered parent or guardian.

•Kids & Teens Classes

Kids and teens should wear flat, closed-toe shoes and comfortable clothing. Students are divided into groups at the discretion of the instructor. Snacks are provided during class and students are seated at the end of class to enjoy the meal they have prepared. Classes are limited to 12 students unless noted otherwise.  "Families Cook" classes are planned for an adult and child to take together; our "Kids Cook" and "Teens Cook" classes are planned for the specific age range listed within the class description.  Please contact us if you have any specific questions about a class.

•Wine & Cheese Classes

 You will be seated throughout the class and encouraged to ask lots of questions as you taste each wine or cheese. Fruit, cheese and bread are served.

 

Arrival

Please check in at the customer service desk upon arrival. We recommend arriving 15 minutes prior to the start of class. You will be directed to the cooking school located near the east side of the building.

 

Cancellation Policy

Please note that refunds cannot be given for no-shows or cancellations made less than 48 hours prior to a class. Although we make every effort to avoid changes to our class schedule, Salud! reserves the right to cancel any class due to low registration or substitute instructors in case of an emergency.

Yule Log Workshop

Hands On - $59.00

In this fun seasonal workshop, you will learn how to make a chocolate roulade cake to fill with vanilla buttercream and roll into a yule log – or bûche de Noël. After icing the log, you will decorate it with mushrooms, holly, pinecones, and “snow”, creating an edible, delicious centerpiece for your holiday table. Each participant will decorate a cake to take home in a box. Snacks will be served.

Families Cook: Christmas Morning Cinnamon Rolls

Hands On - $40.00 PER PAIR; AGES 4 AND UP

Can you smell it?  The fresh smell of warm spiced cinnamon wafting out of your kitchen on Christmas morning?  If you join us in today's class that vision will become a reality!  We'll whip up some homemade cinnamon rolls and have them ready for you to take home and pop in the oven on Christmas morning.  Of course, we'll make some to eat in class too....just to make sure that they're good enough for the rest of the family.  Each registrant pair will take home 1 half pan of cinnamon rolls and icing.  Class designed for 1 adult and 1 child to attend together.

Champagne and Sparkling Wine Tasting

Demonstration - $25.00  AGES 21 AND UP

One beverage marks more significant occasions in our lives than any other -- sparkling wine.  Simply hand a chilled flute with the distinctive effervescent "string of pearls" to a guest and they feel instantly more special.  Join us as we explore the world's bubbly persuasions, from icon Champagne to equally distinctive offerings from Italy, the United States and other parts from around the globe. You’ll assess non-vintage, vintage, rose, blanc de blancs, blanc de noir, and others. Along the way, we’ll discuss ideal serving temperatures, how to predict the dryness of sparkling wines, and compare the traditional method of production with other processes. This course will offer selections to fit various budgets and suggest imaginative choices to enliven your festivities. Fruit and cheese will be served along with some seasonal hors d'oeuvres.

Class Information

All classes include recipes or a class lecture packet and servings of each recipe prepared.

•Hands-On Classes

Be prepared to cook! Please remember to wear flat, closed-toe shoes and comfortable clothing. Aprons and towels will be provided for your use in class. Students are divided into groups at the discretion of the instructor. Snacks are provided during class. Towards the end of class, you will be seated to enjoy your meal along with wine. Classes are limited to 12 students ages 18 & over unless noted otherwise; students 16 and over may attend with a registered parent or guardian.

•Demonstration Classes

Relax and watch us do the work! You will be seated throughout the class and encouraged to ask lots of questions. Tastings of each recipe are served typically as they are prepared. Classes include up to two glasses of red or white wine. Classes are for students 18 & over unless noted otherwise; students under 18 may attend with a registered parent or guardian.

•Kids & Teens Classes

Kids and teens should wear flat, closed-toe shoes and comfortable clothing. Students are divided into groups at the discretion of the instructor. Snacks are provided during class and students are seated at the end of class to enjoy the meal they have prepared. Classes are limited to 12 students unless noted otherwise.

•Wine & Cheese Classes

 You will be seated throughout the class and encouraged to ask lots of questions as you taste each wine or cheese. Fruit, cheese and bread are served.

 

Arrival

Please check in at the customer service desk upon arrival. We recommend arriving 15 minutes prior to the start of class. You will be directed to the cooking school located near the west side of the building.

 

Cancellation Policy

Please note that refunds cannot be given for no-shows or cancellations made less than 48 hours prior to a class. Although we make every effort to avoid changes to our class schedule, Salud! reserves the right to cancel any class due to low registration or substitute instructors in case of an emergency.
