A Vegan-Friendly Shopping List
Vegan foods are those not derived from animals, such as meats and seafood, eggs, dairy products and honey. Some unexpected ingredients – like refined sugar and vitamin D (used to fortify foods) – may not be vegan due to ingredients they’re sourced from or ingredients used in production.
Here are a few items to add to your shopping list:
- Rainbow of fruits and vegetables
- Whole grains
- Nuts and seeds
- Beans and legumes
- Nondairy alternative beverages
- Soy products such as tempeh and tofu and other non-soy meat substitutes
- Extra virgin olive oil, avocado oil, coconut oil and other nut oils
- Nutritional yeast
