
I’ve found the cure to beat the summer heat! It’s Grape and Watermelon Freezer Pops. For ultimate summer cooling, I suggest one after meals or as a snack. Repeat as needed.
Each summer I give thanks for watermelon. It’s a summertime gift from nature, delicious on its own or in beverages, soups, salads, salsas, mains, desserts and even condiments such as Pickled Watermelon Rind with Radishes.
This summer, make watermelon a priority for your picnics, poolside parties and outdoor barbeques. Here are some crowd and kid-pleasing ideas and recipes:
Make a watermelon smoothie with spearmint and honey.
Enjoy Watermelon Lemonade or Watermelon Agua Fresca.
Cool down with Watermelon Granitas, Strawberry Watermelon Coolers, or Double Melon Ice Pops.
Purée watermelon with grape or pomegranate juice; freeze into ice cubes for juices and other beverages.
The sweet, juicy flavor of watermelon is a perfect complement to the saltiness of cheese. The two are even better when combined in salads. Ideas include Watermelon and Arugula Salad, Tomato and Watermelon Salad with Feta and Mint, Watermelon Salad with Tomatoes, Goat Cheese and Basil and Watermelon and Strawberry Salad with Chile Vinaigrette.
Make Watermelon-Tomato Gazpacho or watermelon soup by puréeing with honey and lime juice. Garnish with sour cream or Greek yogurt and blueberries or blackberries.
