We're thrilled to announce the launch of Food52's national partnership with Whole Foods Market.
We started Food52 a couple years ago as a buzzing place for people to gather and do what we do all day long: talk about food! We began by creating the first crowd-sourced cookbook opens in a new tab in 52 weeks. Before we knew it, we had a lively, constructive community on our hands. We vet recipes, create cookbooks and apps, answer food and cooking questions, throw potlucks, and share our favorite products.
As you can imagine, we share some important DNA with Whole Foods Market. We think cooking is really important — especially now. We believe in excellent ingredients, grown and produced by people who care about the land and about our food system. And of course, we both believe in the power of community.
As partners, Food52 will share some of our best recipes, ingredient spotlights and cooking tips with the Whole Foods Market community. We'll collaborate on Twitter chats. We'll bring the Food52 Hotline, the first community-powered resource for getting quality answers to all your food and cooking questions, to Whole Foods Market online. (Check it out opens in a new tab for all your holiday cooking questions!) In addition, many Whole Foods Market fish, meat, and cheese team members will join the Food52 Hotline as expert contributors.
We recently partnered with Whole Foods Market for a very special edition of one of our regular features, called Big Feast. Big Feast is where one of our community members takes a break from the routine of simply getting dinner on the table and embarks upon a cooking adventure that culminates in a "big feast," usually with as many friends and family squeezed around the table as they can possibly fit. All the while sharing the story of their adventure in the kitchen with the rest of the community.
In the past, we've featured a 17-course Scandinavian meal, a goat roast, and a weekend of cooking in the woods, among others. We decided to do something a little different with this Big Feast: Whole Foods Market donated $5000 in groceries, and Food52 joined forced with Robicelli's opens in a new tab to cook up a Big Feast for victims of Hurricane Sandy in Brooklyn, New York. You can read more about it here opens in a new tab.
We're excited to be working with Whole Foods Market on all these great projects. We look forward to seeing both communities flourish, and to spreading the love of cooking together.
