Perhaps it’s the looser schedule, the longer days or the heat, but my kids are continually requesting snacks and special treats this summer. Just this morning, my two-year old asked for a snack instead of breakfast. Um, no.
In addition to making sure they are hydrated, I try and thwart their ongoing requests for special treats with sliced veggies and fruit readily available at home, popcorn and dried fruit in single-serving containers in the car, and meals based on whole grains, plant-based proteins and lots of fresh fruit and veggies.
