Just when the gray days seem to outnumber the bright ones, Mother Nature brings sunshine back in the form of citrus. Tangerines, grapefruits, mandarins, limes and Meyer lemons are just the start, and delicious recipe options are nearly endless. So take advantage of these peak season picks!

5 Uses for Seasonal Citrus

  1. Zest it. Add zing to baked goods, stir-fries or stews. Or make citrus salt.

  2. Juice it. Lemon juice keeps sliced fruits and root veggies from turning brown. It helps in guacamole, too!

  3. Dry it. Simply bake peels on the lowest possible heat until dry but still pliable. Use them to flavor black tea, roasted chicken or braised meats.

  4. Freeze it. You can also freeze citrus juice or zest until you’re ready to use it.

  5. Candy it. Garnish desserts and cocktails with candied peels or enjoy them as a sweet snack.
