5 or 25 Minutes? We’ve Got a Meal for That

Grilled Cheese and Tomato on Multi-Grain Bread

Fall is often linked with a return to routine. This can mean adopting time-and money-saving strategies or embracing healthier eating habits. In both cases, the Whole Story blog is here to help. Through mid-September we’re sharing our favorite pointers for mealtimes (including snacks!) from how to shop to how to prep, so you can get back on track with ease.

Feta Herb Dressing

Looking to avoid take-out and delivery for dinner? Reinvent fast casual dining with homemade savings. Here are few of our favorite super fast suppers that you can make at home:

If you have ABOUT 25 minutes

  • Go fish. While 365 Everyday Value® Lightly Breaded Fish Fillet or Bites bake, cook greens and whole wheat couscous.
  • Mediterranean medley. Grill slices of eggplant, zucchini and portobello mushrooms, and a split loaf of ciabatta. Spread lemon-garlic mayo on the bread. Then assemble the sandwich and top with feta cheese crumbles and arugula.
  • No tropical troubles. Make Pineapple Teriyaki Beef. Serve with 365 Everyday Value® Organic Rice. (Find it in the freezer aisle. It’s ready in mere minutes!)

If you have ABOUT 15 minutes

  • Pasta party. Toss whole wheat pasta with minced garlic and olive oil. Garnish with mozzarella or chopped precooked sausage like Wellshire Smoked Polska Kielbasa.
  • French fave. For a Niçoise salad, arrange lightly steamed haricot verts (green beans), chickpeas, canned tuna, hard-boiled eggs, sliced cucumber and tomato on a bed of greens. Dress with a lemon-Dijon vinaigrette.
  • Rice, rice baby. Heat 365 Everyday Value® Organic Brown Rice then top with quick stir-fried chicken or tofu and veggies.

If you have ABOUT 5 minutes

  • Grilled cheese please. Make a melty mozzarella sandwich with greens and sliced tomatoes. Serve it with very thin slices of zucchini drizzled with olive oil.
  • Souper supper. Broth + leftover ingredients (like rotisserie chicken, steamed broccoli and rice) = soup! Add chopped fresh parsley or a squeeze of lemon.
  • Bean town. Make a bean salad with canned beans, cut veggies from the salad bar and Feta-Herb Dressing.
