My kids love salmon more than chicken and I was wondering does anyone know how much salmon they can eat per week or recommend a site where i can get that information. If it were up to my daughter she would eat it every night.

Someone mentioned corn as food for farmed fish, and the moderator danced around the answer without committing herself. When would this ever be appropriate for fish like salmon and trout, which are strict carnivores (insectivores) unless they catch something else by accident, e.g., random bits of vegetative matter or a fisherman's irresistible fly or lure?

i would like to start eating fish once a week. my concern is with salmon not being of a safe and good quality since a lot of it is raised in unregulated farms. i have tried to find a good wild pacific, but have had no luck. what is a good safe bet from the atlantic regions that is wild and not to polluted, low in pcb's and high in omegas, not to interested in grilling, but am thinking maybe a good quality frozen in a pouch might work for me. i like to pan fry then finish in the oven if necessary.

Hi there, I'm planning an xmas party and want to serve Salmon hors devoure's. Will Wholefoods have salmon at this time of the year and is there any special instructions for charcoal grilling salmon?

@NOEL - Our exact products differ between stores but most locations should have salmon. Check with your local store directly and the seafood department will have some great grilling suggestions as well!

@RON - Since our products differ between stores, I can't recommend an exact product for you. Check with your local store directly to speak with a team member in Seafood. They will be happy to help you further based on the products they have in stock.

Having been in fish business for a number of years selling and enjoying the fish we sold the most was always sockeye. Our store now only sells smoked salmon but even then the hottest selling was still sockeye. There is still great demand for the other types but for the best quality sockeye is where its at.

I would like to know what brand of canned smoked salmon you think is best. My father used to smoke the salmon in his store and ship to the U.S. in the 50's, so I know what good smoked salmon can be. Thanks for your feedback.

How do I get a daily summary of the salmon/ shrimp products sold in the Reston store? I am interested in the species, its origin and whether or not the product is wild or farm raised. Is Whole Foods required to submit details of its seafood products to a government food safety body? Thanks.

@CAROLE - I responded to your other comment but since our brands differ between stores, check with your local store to see what they have in stock. We also sometimes smoke salmon in-house so check with your local store about that option as well!

@ANNETTE - Our stores do not normally list their seafood options daily since the variety can differ daily. I would suggest calling the Reston store directly at 703.736.0600 to speak with the Seafood team directly to see what they have in stock.

Hi Keith, I just bought a couple of fillets what was labeled "Steelhead Salmon": from a Whole Foods market. I bought them because the fillets looked good, and the man helping me told me they were the freshest of the salmon fillets they had available. I'm just very curious because salmon and trout are two different species, (steelhead being an anadromous rainbow trout), I didn't know what I was actually buying! Any insight would be great on this question I have. Thanks so much, Bobby
