Thank you for doing this -- I was misdiagnosed for 10 yrs by 3 diff't doctors as having eczema, when, in fact, I have an extremely severe contact allergy to formaldehyde. I was appalled to find out it's in so many products and now have no reactions because I avoid those ingredients, but I think those preservatives shouldn't be allowed in toiletries...

before, im not into checking ingredients/contents of makeups, and other cosmetics.. now i'll be checking the back labels.. for any chemicals that may harm my skin.. thanks to this very informative podcast.. i'll be sharing this to my coworkers and relatives.. before, i've heard about "Sunsilk Shampoo" containing formaldehyde, (buhay ka pa -- naglalagay ka na ng formalin sa katawan) then after doing some ingredients checking, oh my! (meron ngang formaldehyde) then they changed the cover of the product, yah.. the price is low and competitive, but i won't risk the health of my family.. this is a big help.. thanks for the info

We often forget that our skin is the largest organ belonging to our bodies and 60% of what goes ON our skin goes IN our bodies... thanks for the timely information and I'm glad I listened. No more toxic chemicals for ME

We're all paying more attention to what we put in our bodies, so it only makes sense to also note what we're putting on our bodies. Nature's Gate makes some excellent products and I'm in the process of switching over to natural.

Thank you for this information. I have rosacea and have researched and tested natural products as a way of treating it. My rosacea has improved as I move away from chemicals and fragrances. Please enter me in the contest.

I have tried natural makeup before but was not too impressed. It seemed like the lip liner didnt glide as easily. I would love to try other brands though. Maybe that is different.

I was so surprised to hear that there are so many danerous chemicals in sunscreen! It's amazing to me that, as a melanoma survivior, I have been daily slathering on sunscreen for years, thinking that I was doing a good thing to protect myself, and now I find that I may have been doing my body harm in other ways.

It's SO true that getting rid of artificial fragrances can make you realize how strong and OFF they are. For instance, I started to make my own laundry detergent that leaves no fragrance on the clothing once it's dry. Now, when I smell clothes washed in pre-made detergent, the smell is so strong and overpowering that it gives me heartburn. One note, Fleishman slurs some words, and the put odd emphasis on others. In future podcasts, I think you should take care to avoid this. It was really distracting to me. :-/

I agree with the guest speaker that since makeup can be absorbed, natural makeup should be the way to go! www.mommymandy.com

I personally like to use natural care products because I have very sensitive skin. I noticed that when I use synthetic ingredients, I break out out itch. I wish that I had access to this info years ago, but, better late than never. VanessasSecret4 at aol dot com

I really loved this interview and how she discussed makeup and how we need to control what we put in and on our body. The skin is our bodies largest organ and it protects us for sun damage.

And I'm glad to see how many cosmetic companies are recognizing the preference of their customers for natural, chemical-free and cruelty-free design. We often forget that the earliest cosmetics were made from those ingredients found in nature (plants and mineral ochre). www.faboverforty

Someone else made an excellent point too, that it is hard to find the time to research the ingredients and manufacturing of our cosmetics, let alone every thing else we purchase. However, there is so much ready information available (such as this excellent podcast) and web-lists, etc that now we DO have the convenience of instant research at our fingertips.

I don't really know if there is a separate contest per blog, or if it is just one all-inclusive giveaway, so I apologize if thats how it is since different sites say that the giveaway is between Whole Foods and their blog specifically, so I am unsure if I would only enter on one blog or for each blog. Please don't disqualify me if I am doing this wrong. Regardless, I really want to win this. I love Whole Foods and their markets are unbelievable. I am really excited that you are now taking part in one of my absolute favorite things - cosmetics & beauty!! Thank you so much for bringing us wonderful and healthy products that cover many facets of our lives.

i found this very informative.. i had never thought about some of the things i use the most (such as suncreen) as being harmful for my body. I would be interested in hearing more about alternative products and ingredients in every day beauty products that are harmful and the dangers associated with them.
