Kids World Party

Read on for a chance to win a 14-CD set from Putumayo’s Kids Playground series along with Kids World Party. Dan Storper is the CEO and Founder of Putumayo World Music. Kids World Party, a global medley of fun tunes from Trinidad to South Africa, launches the new Kids Party music series for Putumayo. Like the acclaimed Playground and Dreamland collections, Kids Party is sure to please adults too! With the release of World Playground in 1999, Putumayo Kids established its children’s music collections as passports to learning about the world’s cultures. Kids World Party marks a return to these global roots with 12 fun, danceable songs accompanied by a multilingual (English, Spanish, French, German), child-friendly booklet that explores how children worldwide celebrate special occasions. The CD comes enclosed in a new eco-friendly package without a plastic tray. Kids World Party also marks the start of a very special relationship with Amnesty International, in commemoration of the Noble Peace Prize-winning organization’s 50th anniversary, and continues a long Putumayo tradition of tying music and humanitarian work together in a seamless fashion. Fifty cents from the sale of each Kids World Party CD will go to Amnesty in support of their work to promote and protect human rights worldwide. A sampling of the artists featured on Kids World Party include famed Indian pop and Bollywood singer Lucky Ali, who contributes “Kitni Haseen Zindagi,” a song that celebrates life. South Africa’s Sharon Katz and The Peace Train, whom Nelson Mandela appointed as a Cultural Ambassador of the nation, has thrilled international audiences with the beats and harmonies of their music, and delights listeners with “Sanalwami.” The infectious “Afro-Cuban Funk” of Cuban-American band PALO! is heard on their song “Quimbombó” — the Spanish word for okra, a type of vegetable used to make stews in Louisiana, Cuba and Africa. Watch and hear a sample in this music video. Also featured on Kids World Party is bilingual (English-French) singer Will Stroet, an award-winning Canadian musician whose song “Le boogie à vélo” tells children that you can boogie even while riding a bike safely. U.S. musicians Tom Freund and Friends performs the participatory song “Freezedance” and fellow American Eric Bibb rounds out the collection with Jackie Wilson’s classic soul tune “Higher and Higher.” We think this CD is going to be the hit of your next kids’ party. In that light, what’s the best kids’ party you ever created or attended? Leave a comment below by July 26th for a chance to win a 14-CD collection from Putumayo Kids Playground series plus the newly released Kids World Party. That’s a lot of music! One comment will be selected randomly to win. Good luck!

Our best kids party was my son's 4th. He rode out on a wagon for everyone to sing happy birthday. He had the biggest smile on his face.

Best kids party we ever created was my son's 7th. It was a father-son party at the Pawsox. We bought 25 tickets and gave them early (so no worries about transportation). We even put our rain date down on invitation with tickets just in case. Goodie bags were included in the package. All had an amazing time. And then came back for cake and icecream

I think my nephews would enjoy this!

Love this music! Would love it for my 5 grandkids! Best kids party? Must be a neighborhood "field day" & sock-puppet show coordinated by one of the dads -- many years ago. Everyone was involved in the fun on a shady lawn beneath tall oaks.

The best kids party we ever attended was one of my daughter's friends. She has a large farm yard in upstate NY, and the children played in the garden and splashed in mud puddles. It was messy, but they couldn't have had more fun. Our favorite Putumayo Kids CDs are New Orleans Playground and Celtic lullabies.

My seven year old son, Isaiah and three year old daughter, Leila are dancin' fools! I'd love to watch them to boogie to this CD!Choose me! :)

We live in Texas so it is HOT in the summer when both of our kids have their birthdays. Usually we have to do something indoors due to the heat, but last year my son had his first sleepover for his birthday party. We made a couple hundred water balloons and let the boys go crazy. It was so simple, but they had a great time and stayed cool. They even helped me pick out all the bits of balloon out of the yard the next morning.

My daughter bought me a CD from this collection and I enjoy listening to it as I cook. The sounds help me add extra spice to my meals. I played it recently at a family BBQ and everyone enjoyed it, especially all the grandchildren. What a great collection to have!

my 6 year old neice and her 5 and 3 year old brothers would love to hear this CD. They all have a knact for dancing and singing. On Allie's last birthday she had a bounce house in the yard for her friends to play in. When they came inside, they had a dance party! We all had so much so fun.

A family friend used to put on the best Easter egg hunts. He had a large piece of land in the country, so there were lots of creative hiding places for eggs.

My friend had the Bug Guy come to entertain the kids. This guy had bugs from a Praying Mantis to a huge moth, centipedes and spiders. He shared information about them, held them to show the kids, and let the kids hold some of them if they wanted. The kids LOVED it and were so interested and attentive, until the cake came. ha!

My friend's son just turned five in December. We invited his entire class for an indoor jungle gym party. The kids absolutely loved it! I made Tie-Dye cupcakes and Monster Goody Bags for them to take home. We used neon as a theme so the monsters were all colours of neon paper fringe glued to paper bags with google eyes :) Each bag had the child's name on it for a personal touch.

I have the idea to do a garden party. It could be at a pretty park, farm, or backyard and kids plant a veggie, fruit or herb to take home as a party favor. A petting zoo could be a nice activity too.

Beth M. says …

This CD sounds like fun! For my daughter's 4th birthday, we threw her a Classic Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory Birthday Party (old one NOT the new one!) We had games that centered around each character like a Donut Eating contest for Agustus Gloop. We also had a chocolate fountain, an entire table filled with candy so they could go candy shopping afterwards and a giant cake loaded with lollipops and giant gummy bears. The kids had a blast and it was so much fun creating it! (Although I do admit it wasn't the healthiest!) ;)

Judy Pace says …

We had a Christmas party for 3 and 4 year olds last year that included making gingerbread men and putting them in the oven to bask while I told the story with "paper dolls". When the buzzer went off, the gingerbread men were gone! Rnlargedf versions of the little old man, woman, horse, etc. were on the wall and the children found them in sequence and the character "whispered" a message to me that indicated which way we should go. After we found the cookies and ate them, we went back to bounce cotton balls and jingle bells on a flannel bedsheet and sang "Jingle Bells". We had more refreshementws and sang other Chritmas songs together.

I threw my daughter a Harry Potter party...made an enchanted ceiling, had a zillion of those battery powered candles on the table and then converted the living room into the Gryffindor common room. We had a Forbidden Forest scavenger hunt and mother nature provided more than enough fog and ambiance. Girls went to sleep with a fire blazing in the fireplace and all the candles on the mantel. It was magical! LOVE Putumayo...have many of them but only one kids one...need more!!

What a great offer. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we'll win.

My 3 1/2 and 5 year old daughters love to dance. We are always on the look out for new music that they like and that doesn't drive my husband and I crazy! This sounds like a terrific set!! Thanks!

Zoa says …

I love Putomayo Kids CDs. My favourite is filled with wonderful Jazz for kids including a New Orleans fav Ingrid Lucia singing "this little light of mine". My son grew up in New Orleans with Jazzm Big Band and Funk music all around him at school, in the streets and at home. My son had a great birthday party at age 5 where several local musician friends did a "funk" version of Happy Birthday song for him and everyone was dressed as musicians across the 20th century from Zoot suits to 70s flares and brought instruments to the party to jam. Zeb is 21 now, but would love these CDs for his 4yr old sister Sophia!

We had a music party for my son's 3rd birthday where one of his Mo Music instructors lead everyone in song and dance.

Leslie Jarvis says …

The best party we ever hosted was a music-themed party for my younger daughter when she turned 6. We did the limbo, played "pass the parcel" and musical chairs, did activity songs balancing bean bags, played "pin the note on the radio" and made maracas out of toilet paper rolls and dried beans. It was a blast!

Meghan Rubinstein says …

We would love this CD set. We have a few Putumayo's and love them all! Best party (so far) was at Monkey Bizness. It's fun for kids and easy for adults!

Angela says …

We just went to a garden party outside with twinkly lights and the 5 year olds planted flowers in flower pots. Then they decorated the flower pots with markers, stickers, etc. They had lots of fun!

Jenny says …

Best kids party I attended has to be my cousin's kids party. It was Superhero themed. She went all out making every little detail so special. She created all her own cup cake toppers, bottle labels, and even cut outs the kids could take photos in. EVerything looked straight out of a comic book. There were even handmade capes and masks for every kid there! And not to mention all the grown men that got to play the best dress up ever...they dressed up as super heroes (superman, ironman etc) for the kids amazement. It was truly a special birthday for her twin boys and we had so much fun.

Shauna Brandt says …

All boys need is an Indoor playground/jungle gym. Pizza and cake were served along with lots of water. The kids were still sweating even though it was totally air conditioned. Fun was had by all! I speak French and would love my kids to learn more from the Putumayo Kids Playground CDs.

Catherine King says …

I love your CDs and would love to use this set in my classroom to expose my K-2 students to different music from around the world.

My first daugther wasborn in December. One of her birthday parties was all about Christmas. The kids love the Santa character that showed up.

Heidi McConnell says …

My son loves puntumayo! It's great to have kid music that I enjoy also. I have all of them on my wishlist on amazon. Would be great to win them instead!

Kevina says …

I'm very excited by this opportunity. It sounds more multi-cultural and exciting than the music my grandkids listen to.

Rachel says …

My favorite party was a Frida Kahlo themed party. The six year old girl helped prepare and get everything ready. She was really proud and it taught the girls some culture while still being very girly and fun. Kids these days need more culture, music, outdoor and less video games!!
