See a Film, Support Future Films

Our Do Something Reel™ Film Festival has been screening films in 70+ cities around the country in celebration of Earth Month.  Have you caught a show yet? The film festival is a collection of six provocative, character-driven films focused on passionate people making a world of difference. From the Coal River Valley of West Virginia to the inner city of Detroit, from vanishing bee populations to the evolution of the National School Lunch Program, from farmers and active everyday citizens to doctors and scientists, the Do Something Reel line-up provides a moving, eye-opening look at how the choices we make can have a huge impact on our bodies, our economy and our environment. We hope these films will inspire you to reflect on what you’re passionate about and how you can make a difference! As part of the festival, Whole Foods Market is pleased to team with AFI-Discovery Channel Silverdocs to search for well-developed film concepts and films in progress that focus on green themes and/or explore issues related to food sustainability. A portion of all ticket sales from the Do Something Reel Film™ Festival goes toward a film production and development grant that will encourage filmmakers to continue making stories about the environment and the impact of everyday choices consumers make. Two grants of $25,000 each will be awarded to documentary feature filmmakers at varying stages of development — from conception through completion.  The films will tell a story of real people making a difference on important issues, sharing hope and inspiration, and showing that change IS possible. The online grant application process will be open from April 1 – 30 and selected grant candidates will be notified by June 14. The Whole Foods Market/AFI-Discovery Channel Silverdocs “Green Grant” will be presented at the 2011 AFI-Discovery Channel Silverdocs Festival Awards Ceremony on June 25.   Please visit Silverdocs for additional criteria, to submit an application and for a contact to help answer questions about the review process. Are you passionate about important food and environmental issues?  Find a Do Something Reel Film Festival screening near you!
